A Field Study to Lachit Maidam, Jorhat was organized by the Department of History on 16-05-2026 as a mandatory part of the Add-on course curriculum on 'Travel and Tourism Management'.
The visit enriched the students with prospects of newer emerging trends in the field of tourism in Jorhat. The architectural design of the site reflects a remarkable fusion of Thai architectural influences with traditional Ahom motifs and patterns. The museums there are all set to enhance learning experience through the use of modern digital technology and audio-visual displays.

A Talk Programme on "Speak, Engage and Influence: Anchoring as a Career Skill" was conducted on 23rd April 2026 in collaboration with IQAC. Shashwati Sabhapondit, an alumnus of our department and a freelance anchor was invited as a speaker for the programme.
The programme reflects alumni engagement with the department through lecture and interaction. And was also aimed at imparting the knowledge of skill based learning and the importance of exploring non-conventional careers.

The departmental wall magazine, āĻ•āĻžā§°ā§‡āĻ‚ ⧍ā§Ļ⧍ā§Ŧ, was inaugurated on 25th March, 2026 by Retired Associate Professor, Padmalochan Nath sir from the Department of Philosophy.
The theme chosen for this year was- āĻ•āĻžāϞāϜāϝāĻŧā§€ āĻŦā§ā§°āĻšā§āĻŽāĻĒ⧁āĻ¤ā§ā§°: āϐāϤāĻŋāĻšā§āϝ, āφāĻ–ā§āϝāĻžāύ āφ⧰⧁ āĻĒāĻžā§°āĻŋāĻĒāĻžā§°ā§āĻļā§āĻŦāĻŋāĻ•āϤāĻž. The Brahmaputra is a living force that shapes the land, nurtures biodiversity, and sustains the cultural and economic life of millions.
The team bagged the third position in the Best Wall Magazine genre, with Best Handwriting (Assamese), Best poem in Assamese by Chimpi Bori and 3rd Best Short Story by Rubi Saikia.

Such events provide the students a common space to thrive and succeed as a team.

An Interactive Programme on "Understanding the Present through the Lens of History" was organized yesterday by the Department in collaboration with IQAC, DCB Girls' College, Jorhat. The event was graced by the presence of Mukul Patgiri, Associate Professor in the Department of History, Bhattadev University, Bajali who provided valuable insights on the study of History and its relevance in understanding the present. He inspired the students to analyse contemporary issues and the socio-political and economic complexities of the present in the light of past events.
