Awareness Programme on Solar Energy at Kakojan College

Kakojan College organized an awareness session on solar energy titled “Shining a Light on Solar Power: Harnessing the Sun for a Sustainable Future”. The programme was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Rashmi Rekha Saikia, who emphasized the importance of solar energy for a sustainable future.

The keynote speaker, Mr. Robert Wizdeveld, Solar Energy Expert from PUM Netherlands, delivered an insightful talk on the basics, applications, and benefits of solar energy in reducing carbon footprint and promoting energy independence.

The event was graced by Mr. Jyotiska Baruah (DGM, APDCL), Mr. Debasish Barman (AGM, AEGCL), Ms. Gitanjali Chetia (AGM, AEGCL), Ms. Aditi Chetia (Indian Representative, PUM Netherlands), and Mr. Ashwini Kr. Tasa (GS, Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Labours Association), who shared their perspectives on the theme.

Anchored by Assistant Professor Mr. Tufail Zilani, the session inspired participants to explore solar applications in daily life. Organizing committee member Mr. Lakhya Pratima Nirmolia expressed gratitude to the speaker, guests, participants, and Prachi Marketing for making the event a success.

As part of the Swachhta Hi Sewa Campaign 2025, the NCC Unit of Kakojan College organised a cleanliness drive on the college campus. A total of 60 cadets actively participated in the initiative under the theme “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath Shramdaan".

A Plantation Drive was organised by the NSS Unit of Kakojan College in collaboration with IQAC, on 19th September at Sector-B of the institution as part of the Assam Government’s “SEWA SAPTAH” initiative. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Rashmi Rekha Saikia, Principal of Kakojan College, who emphasised that the drive would not only beautify the surroundings but also raise awareness about the importance of conservation and eco-friendliness.

Dr. Kshirod Saikia, Vice Principal; Dr. Dharmendra Dutta, Secretary of the Teachers’ Unit; Ratul Baruah, Senior Office Assistant; along with other faculty members, non-teaching staff, students, and NSS volunteers actively participated in the drive, planting numerous saplings and contributing towards creating a greener environment.

The programme was anchored by Mr. Jayanta Duarah, Programme Officer of the NSS Unit, who also offered the vote of thanks.

An awareness program on the theme “From Science to Global Action”, followed by an essay competition on “Preserving Our Ozone: Protection for Our Future”, was organized on the occasion of International Ozone Day at the Kakojan College premises on 16th September 2025. The program was organized by the Eco Club in collaboration with IQAC, Kakojan College.
Mr. Ashish Pratim Hazarika, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, delivered an insightful presentation on the theme. More than 100 students enthusiastically participated in the event.

Miss Prapti Priya Bora, a student of our institution (B.Sc. 1st Semester, Department of Zoology), has brought laurels to our college by winning a Gold Medal in the 14th National Vovinam Championship held in New Delhi from September 8 to 11, 2025.

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, the Student Union Society of Kakojan College organized a Wall Magazine Competition among its academic Departments. The students enthusiastically displayed their creativity and innovative ideas through the wall magazines. In the competition, the Department of Botany secured the first position, followed by the Department of Assamese in second place, the Department of Sociology in third place, and the Department of Economics in fourth place.

Kakojan College Signs MoU with Assam Down Town University

Kakojan College has entered into a significant academic collaboration with Assam Down Town University (AdtU), a NAAC A+ accredited institution, by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 4, 2025.

The MoU aims to foster cooperation in education, training, and academic research, creating new avenues for knowledge exchange and institutional growth. Both institutions have agreed to work together on student and faculty exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, skill development activities, and collaborative seminars, workshops, and conferences.

LIBRARY ORIENTATION PROGRAMME 2025,DAY 1

The Library Orientation Programme 2025 of Kakojan College was commenced today at the Conference Hall. The programme started with the inaugural address by Dr. Rashmi Rekha Saikia, Principal, Kakojan College, which highlighted the importance of libraries, the necessity of reading habits, and the rules and regulations to be followed by the students.
A detailed presentation was delivered by Parishmita Hazarika, Librarian, on the different services, collections, borrowing facilities, reference materials, and access to digital resources available in the library.
The first session was conducted for the Department of Sociology. The orientation will continue in the coming days for other departments as per the schedule.
This programme aims to create awareness among newly admitted students about the effective use of library resources and services.

Farewell Meeting of Ms. Mridula Neog
Kakojan College bids adieu to Ms. Mridula Neog, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, on the successful completion of her 29 years of service life. A farewell meeting was organized at the Conference Hall of the institution in honor of Ms. Mridula Neog, who is retiring tomorrow from her service. The programme was graced by Dr. Nirmala Sarma, President of the Governing Body, Kakojan College, Dr. Rashmi Rekha Saikia, Principal of the College, Mr. Bikash Bordoloi, Deba Kumar Mahanta, Retired HoD, Department of English, Kakojan College, Dr. Bijoylakshmi Neog, Ms. Mamoni Dutta, retired Vice Principals of the institution, Dr. Bobita Phukon Borkotoky, Retired HoD, Department of Botany, Kakojan College.
Kakojan College family congratulates her on completing a long journey as a teacher and wishes her a new, wonderful chapter of life filled with peace, joy, and fulfilment.
