A green start to a new journey
As part of Deeksharambh, around 40 newly admitted B.Tech. (Agril. Engg.) students joined CAET’s NSS Unit for a tree plantation drive near the Vivekananda Boys’ Hostel at Junagadh Agricultural University.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. V. P. Chovatiya, Director of Research Dr. A.G. Pansuriya, Registrar Dr. Y.H. Ghelani, CAET Principal and Dean Dr. K. C. Patel, university officers and faculty joined the students in planting saplings. The drive was coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Prof. D. J. Faldu.
With their first NSS activity, the students put the motto “Not Me, But You” into action—beginning their college journey with a commitment to service and a greener campus. 🌿

જૂનાગઢ કૃષિ યુનિવર્સિટી, જૂનાગઢ ખાતે વિસ્તરણ શિક્ષણ નિયામકશ્રીની કચેરી અને Friends of Women's World Banking (FWWB), Indiaના સંયુક્ત ઉપક્રમે, માન. કુલપતિશ્રી ડૉ. વી. પી. ચોવટિયા સાહેબની પ્રેરણા તથા વિસ્તરણ શિક્ષણ નિયામકશ્રી ડૉ. એન. બી. જાદવ સાહેબના માર્ગદર્શન હેઠળ તા. ૨૧/૦૯/૨૦૨૬ થી ૨૬/૦૯/૨૦૨૬ દરમ્યાન છ-દિવસીય તાલીમ કાર્યક્રમનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. આ તાલીમ કાર્યક્રમનું સમાપન તથા પ્રમાણપત્ર વિતરણ કાર્યક્રમ તા. ૨૬/૦૯/૨૦૨૬ના રોજ યોજાયો હતો. તાલીમ સમાપન કાર્યક્રમમાં ડૉ. એચ. સી. છોડવડીયા, સહ વિસ્તરણ શિક્ષણ નિયામકશ્રી તથા ડૉ. એસ. એમ. ભાભોર, મદદનીશ પ્રાધ્યાપકશ્રી, FWWBના પ્રતિનિધિ કુ. કવિતા શર્મા તથા શ્રી એસ. પી. શ્રીકાંત ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા હતા. છ દિવસીય તાલીમ સફળતાપૂર્વક પૂર્ણ કરનાર કુલ ૨૫ તાલીમાર્થીઓને પ્રમાણપત્રોનું વિતરણ કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. આ તાલીમ દ્વારા તાલીમાર્થીઓને વિવિધ ઉપયોગી વિષયો અંગે જ્ઞાન અને વ્યવહારુ માર્ગદર્શન પ્રાપ્ત થયું હતું.

CAET Welcomes New Students at Deeksharambh 2026 : Orientation Programme

The “Deeksharambh – Orientation Programme” for newly admitted First Semester students was organized on 25 September 2026 at the College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh. The programme was graced by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. V. P. Chovatia as President of the function, along with distinguished University Officers and dignitaries. Dr. K. C. Patel, Principal and Dean, CAET, welcomed the dignitaries and students and emphasized academic excellence, practical learning, innovation, discipline and holistic development. Dr. Y. H. Ghelani, Registrar and Dr. A. G. Pansuriya, Director of Research addressed and motivated the students, while Dr. R. M. Solanki, Director of Student Welfare and Dr. H. C. Chhodavadia, In-charge Director of Extension also graced the occasion.
A key highlight was the launch of “Krishi Maharathi – A Farmer Talent Hunt Initiative,” aimed at strengthening the connection among students, innovative farmers and the University.
In his presidential address, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. V. P. Chovatia inspired the students to pursue their academic journey with dedication, discipline, curiosity and innovation.
Notably, the entire programme was planned, organized and hosted by the First Semester students, providing them an opportunity to demonstrate teamwork, responsibility, confidence and leadership from the very beginning of their university journey.

The College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (CAET), Junagadh Agricultural University (JAU), received a ₹6 lakh grant from the Education Department, Government of Gujarat, under the SSIP 2.0 Policy for 2026–27. Of this amount, ₹4,49,400 was allocated to 13 student projects: 11 Proof of Concept projects and two Design Registration projects.

CAET held a grant sanction letter ceremony on 25 September 2026 in its seminar hall. Sanction letters were presented to the student beneficiaries in the presence of Dr. V. P. Chovatia, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor; Dr. A. G. Pansuriya, Director of Research; Dr. Y. H. Ghelani, Registrar; Dr. H. C. Chhodavadia, In-charge Director of Extension Education; Dr. R. M. Solanki, Director of Students’ Welfare; and Dr. K. C. Patel, Principal and Dean, CAET and Director of IT, JAU.

Dr. Chovatia spoke with the students about their projects and ideas. He appreciated their efforts, encouraged them to pursue research, innovation and entrepreneurship, and wished them success. CAET faculty members, staff and first-year B.Tech. students also attended the ceremony.

At the College of Horticulture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh, a seminar on Vedic Agriculture was organized to mark the completion of 25 years in public life of our country's glorious and honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

During this seminar, students were provided with very engaging information about our old traditional farming—Vedic farming—alongside modern agriculture. Shri D. G. Rathod, Deputy Director of Agriculture for Junagadh District, was present as the keynote speaker and delivered an address to the students as well as the staff of the College of Horticulture.

Dr. D. K. Varu, Principal and Dean of the College, along with other faculty members, were present to encourage the students.

Exposure Visit of Employee of Friends of Women's World Banking, India (FWWB)
A group of 26 employees from Friends of Women’s World Banking, India (FWWB) visited the College of Agricultural Engineering & Technology (CAET), Junagadh Agricultural University (JAU), Junagadh, on 25 September 2026. The visit was organized with the objective of gaining insights into agricultural technologies and institutional initiatives supporting livelihood enhancement, financial inclusion, capacity building, and self-reliance among economically disadvantaged women. The visiting team was warmly welcomed by the Department of Agricultural Engineering Extension Education, CAET, JAU. During the visit, the participants were taken to the College Exhibition Hall, where they were briefed on the latest research and development activities, technological innovations, agricultural machinery, and extension initiatives undertaken by the college. The participants subsequently visited various facilities, including the Agricultural Drone Technology facility, Training and Testing Centre of Farm Machinery, and Water Conservation Structure (Plastic Dam). The visit provided them with practical exposure to modern agricultural technologies and their applications in farming and natural resource management. The scientists and project experts explained the functioning, applications and benefits of these innovative technologies, highlighting their role in promoting sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture.

On the occasion of completion of 25 years of public life of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, a “Find the Imposter” Competition was organized by the Academic & Competitive Club, College of Horticulture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh on 22nd September 2026 for the students of the college.

Around 30 enthusiastic students participated in the competition with great excitement and energy.

The main objective of the competition was to develop students’ observation skills, logical thinking, presence of mind, communication skills, teamwork and problem-solving abilities. Throughout the event, students actively participated in various rounds, clues and challenges to identify the imposter, demonstrating their alertness, creativity, analytical thinking and teamwork.

The competition provided students with an opportunity to learn beyond the classroom, interact with their peers, strengthen teamwork and enhance their observation and decision-making skills in an entertaining and engaging way.

On the occasion of the completion of 25 years of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s public life, a debate competition and essay writing competition on the topic “Progress Made in the Agricultural Sector during the Last 25 Years” was organized by the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding under the guidance of College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh.
The programme was attended by the Heads of various Departments of the College of Agriculture along with undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in participating in the debate. The competition provided a platform for students to express their views on the major developments, technological advancements and emerging opportunities in the agricultural sector over the past 25 years. Top three ranks has been declared out of eight participants and certificate will also be distributed to all the participants of debate competition
