World Environment Day 2026 Observed at the University of Kalyani
Today(5th June 2026), the University of Kalyani successfully organized a One-Day Seminar on World Environment Day 2026, along with a Plantation Programme, No Plastic and Waste Reduction Campaign, and University Campus Cleaning Drive under the theme: “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”
The programme was jointly organized by the Department of Environmental Science, DESKU EIACP PC-RP on Environmental Biotechnology (MoEF&CC, Government of India) , and the NSS Cell, University of Kalyani.
The event commenced at Vidyasagar Sabhagriha in the gracious presence of Prof. Kallol Paul, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Kalyani through video conference, who emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and sustainable practices in higher education institutions in his inaugural address.

The seminar featured insightful deliberations by distinguished speakers: Prof. Aniruddha Mukhopadhyay, Department of Environmental Science, University of Calcutta
Shri Shubhankar Sengupta, IFS (Retd.)
Their thought-provoking talks highlighted contemporary environmental challenges, climate action strategies, biodiversity conservation, and the collective responsibility of citizens towards a sustainable future.
The observance also included:
Plantation activities across the campus
Awareness campaign on plastic-free living and waste reduction
Campus cleaning drive with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and staff

A New Chapter of Academic Collaboration!
The University of Kalyani is pleased to announce the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Library, Kolkata on 29 May 2026.
The MoU was signed in the gracious presence of Prof. (Dr.) Kallol Paul, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, University of Kalyani, and Prof. Ajay Pratap Singh, Director General, National Library of India, Kolkata.
This collaboration will open new avenues for academic and research cooperation in the field of Library and Information Science. A significant benefit of the partnership will be internship and practical training opportunities for M.L.I.Sc. students, along with access to the vast collections, research facilities, and professional expertise of the National Library.
The initiative will further promote research guidance, seminars, workshops, training programmes, and collaborative academic activities, enriching the learning experience of students and researchers alike.
We look forward to a fruitful partnership that strengthens knowledge sharing, professional development, and academic excellence.

Today(20.05.26) the gracious presence of Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kallol Paul illuminates the inauguration of two day workshop on "AI LITERACY AND SMART OFFICE SKILLS" for empowering non-teaching staff for a smarter tomorrow organised by Centre for Information Resource Management, University of Kalyani in collaboration with IQAC, University of Kalyani. Prof. Kumaresh Ghosh, Dean, PG Faculty of Science; Prof. Ashimananda Gangopadhyay, Dean, PG Faculty of Arts and Commerce; Prof. Anirban Mukhopadhyay, Director, IQAC; Dr. Ujjal Marjit, System-in-Charge & Coordinator of the workshop were present at the program. Congratulating organisers for such a timely and useful workshop, in his inaugural speech Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kallol Paul emphasized on the pivotal role of use of ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE & e-governance for smooth functioning of regular officework. He also advised the employees to become more acquainted with these things & enrich themselves by way of getting interacted with eminent persons in this field for their betterment. Employees from various departments were present in this workshop.

আজ (১৯.০৫.২০২৬) কল্যাণী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বাংলা বিভাগের উদ্যোগে বিদ্যাসাগর সভাগৃহে বরাক উপত্যকার ভাষা শহিদদের স্মরণে অনুষ্ঠিত হল এক বিশেষ বক্তৃতা সভা ও স্বেচ্ছায় রক্তদান শিবির।

অনুষ্ঠানে মাননীয় উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক (ড.) কল্লোল পালের গৌরবময় উপস্থিতি সমগ্র আয়োজনকে বিশেষভাবে আলোকিত করে। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন অধ্যাপক অর্জুনদেব সেনশর্মা (বাংলা বিভাগ, আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, শিলচর), অধ্যাপক অসীমানন্দ গঙ্গোপাধ্যায় (ডিন, স্নাতকোত্তর কলা ও বাণিজ্য অনুষদ), অধ্যাপিকা সবিত্রী নন্দা চক্রবর্তী, অধ্যাপিকা নন্দিনী বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় (বিভাগীয় প্রধান, বাংলা বিভাগ) এবং অধ্যাপক সঞ্জিত মণ্ডল।

এআইআইএমএস, কল্যাণীর সক্রিয় সহযোগিতায় রক্তদান কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠানের সূচনা হয়। উদ্বোধনী ভাষণে মাননীয় উপাচার্য বরাক উপত্যকার ভাষা শহিদদের আত্মত্যাগের প্রতি গভীর শ্রদ্ধা জ্ঞাপন করেন এবং বাংলা ভাষাকে মাতৃভাষার মর্যাদা প্রতিষ্ঠার সংগ্রামে তাঁদের ঐতিহাসিক অবদানের কথা স্মরণ করেন। পাশাপাশি তিনি ছাত্রছাত্রীদের জীবনে সাফল্যের শিখরে পৌঁছেও নিজেদের শিকড়, ভাষা ও সংস্কৃতির সঙ্গে যুক্ত থাকার আহ্বান জানান।

বাংলা বিভাগ ও অন্যান্য বিভাগের শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা, আধিকারিক, কর্মচারী, গবেষক এবং বিপুল সংখ্যক ছাত্রছাত্রীর সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণে অনুষ্ঠানটি সার্থক ও মহিমান্বিত হয়ে ওঠে।
