"World Soil Day" was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Farmers Academy and Convention Centre, Lake Hall, BCKV, Kalyani, on 5th December 2025. The occasion witnessed active participation from students of all four ongoing DAESI batches (13, 14, 15 and 16). To mark the theme “Healthy Soils for Healthy Cities”, students organised an awareness rally across the Kalyani Municipality area, carrying placards and raising slogans advocating soil conservation and sustainable land management.

The event was presided over by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ashok Kumar Patra, BCKV. Dignitaries including theHon'ble Registrar Prof. Subhendu Bikash Goswami , Hon'ble Deputy Registrar Dr. Kuntal Chakravorty, Hon'ble Director of Extension Education Prof Pallab Dutta, BCKV; Prof. A. M. Puste, Former Professor of Agronomy, BCKV; Dr. Monoranjan Chatterjee, Ex-Scientist, IIT Kharagpur; Dr. Kusal Roy, Course Coordinator and In-Charge, FACC, BCKV; and Guest of Honour, Dr. Soma Mukherjee, Professor, Department of Environmental Science, Kalyani University, graced the ceremony. All esteemed guests were welcomed with floral bouquets and invited to share their valuable insights on soil health and environmental stewardship.

The programme further featured recitation, speech and song performances by students, followed by a lunch gathering. The celebration concluded with an engaging technical session conducted by Prof. A. M. Puste and Dr. Monoranjan Chatterjee, making the event both informative and inspiring.

Report on the Inauguration of the DAESI Training Programme (Batch 15 & 16)

The Inauguration Ceremony of the DAESI Training Programme for Batch 15 (TP-3287) and Batch 16 (TP-3342) was held on 25 November 2025 at FACC, BCKV, Kalyani. The programme was presided over by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, BCKV, and attended by distinguished dignitaries including Deputy Registrar Dr. Kuntal Chakravarty, Director of Extension Education Prof. Pallab Dutta, Dean, Faculty of Horticulture Prof. Jitesh H**e, and Course Coordinator & In-charge, FACC, Dr. Kusal Roy. All shared insightful words of encouragement for the new trainees.

The ceremony commenced with a lamp-lighting ritual, symbolising the beginning of a purposeful learning journey, followed by a melodious welcome song presented by B.Sc. students of BCKV. Speeches were delivered by the dignitaries present, along with an online address by Dr. Manas Ghosh, Director, SAMETI, West Bengal. Guest of Honour Mr. Joydeep Mukhopadhyay, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Nadia, also offered his guidance. A short video presentation on NTI highlighted the objectives and structure of the programme.

The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Miss Kriti Singh, Course Facilitator. After lunch, participants attended an engaging technical session conducted by Dr. Kusal Roy and Mr. Chiranjit Shil (Young Professional, Cost of Cultivation, GOI), marking a productive start to the training.

The State-Level DAESI Annual Workshop was held at Palli Siksha Bhawan, Sriniketan, Bolpur on 17–18 November 2025, organized by SAMETI Narendrapur and Rathindra KVK, with participation from 29 NTIs. The workshop evaluated NTI performance through exhibitions showcasing student-made agricultural models and innovative assignments. Success stories of DAESI trainees were presented through short videos, reflecting their improved livelihoods and skills. Key administrative matters like PUC, AUC, and certificate distribution were discussed. Important recommendations for programme improvement and innovative teaching methods were shared, along with a brief session on effective video-making. NTI–FACC, BCKV proudly bagged the Second Prize in the exhibition and received special appreciation for its video presentation. The workshop concluded with a cultural evening and a vote of thanks to all dignitaries and participants.
