As chemical and process industries increasingly adopt AI-driven digital technologies, the interaction between 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 introduces new opportunities as well as emerging safety challenges. The lecture will explore AI–human conflicts, their potential role in process accidents, and the importance of 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆-𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 for AI-enabled processing systems.

Heartiest congratulations to Prof. Siddhartha Panda, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, on being elected a Fellow of The National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), effective January 1, 2027.

Prof. Panda’s group works in the area of sensor technologies, with a strong focus on chemical sensors. The research activity integrates fundamental understanding of sensing phenomena and mechanisms with applied engineering, drawing on principles from transport phenomena, reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and materials processing. These insights enable the systematic design and development of sensor prototypes towards industry-relevant technologies, including devices implemented on flexible and printable electronics-based platforms. The sensors and sensing systems have applications in disease diagnostics, food safety, assistive technologies, environmental monitoring, and the chemical process industry.

Prof. Saha specializes in experimental soft matter, complex fluid interfaces, and microfluidics, with research spanning bubble acoustics, synthetic biology, and hierarchical materials. 🔬 His research explores how fundamental interfacial phenomena can be harnessed to design next-generation functional and sustainable materials. 🌱

𝗥𝗮𝗷𝘂 𝗞𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗿 𝗚𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗮, received the 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 at the International Conference on Emerging Multifunctional Materials and Devices for Sustainable Technologies (IEMDST-2026), jointly organized by NIT Goa and NIT Warangal and held at NIT Goa on 𝟴–𝟵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

Her award-winning presentation, titled "𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗲-𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗯𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗼𝘄-𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗢₂ 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲," highlights innovative research toward sustainable carbon capture technologies.

He is a recipient of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award and the Infosys Prize, and a Fellow of India's premier science and engineering academies.

We are proud to share that our esteemed alumnus, Mr. Mohit Singh (BT/CHE/1997), has been appointed as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Archrock, a leading U.S.-based energy infrastructure company specializing in midstream natural gas compression services.

Mr. Singh serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Powell. With more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry, he has held leadership roles across oil and gas operations, investment banking, corporate finance, business development, and mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Archrock, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Chesapeake Energy Corporation and subsequently continued in the same role at Expand Energy Corporation following its merger with Southwestern Energy. Earlier in his career, he held leadership positions at BPX Energy, RBC Capital Markets, Goldman Sachs, and Shell Exploration & Production Company.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Singh on this significant milestone and wish him continued success in his new role.

PGRL, Department of Chemical Engineering, IIT Kanpur, is pleased to announce a 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 "𝗚𝗣𝗖/𝗦𝗘𝗖: 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀", 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝟭𝟴–𝟭𝟵 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with practical exposure to Gel Permeation Chromatography/Size Exclusion Chromatography (GPC/SEC), one of the most widely used techniques for polymer characterization and molecular weight analysis. The programme will cover the fundamental principles of GPC/SEC, instrument operation, method development, calibration strategies, and advanced data analysis for determining molecular weight distribution and polymer properties.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art GPC/SEC instrumentation, including multi-detector systems incorporating refractive index, viscometer, and light scattering detectors.
This workshop will be highly beneficial for students, researchers, faculty members, and industry professionals working in the fields of polymers, biomaterials, coatings, soft matter, pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials characterization.
