Competition Rules & Regulations 📜
To make sure you’re ready for the spotlight, here is what you need to know:

•Open Participation:There is no limit on the number of participants from each department.

• Time Limit:Each performance has a maximum limit of 2 minutes.

• Two-Round Format: The competition will consist of two distinct rounds.
• Round 1 (Presentation): Present a program on any topic of your choice (maximum 1 minute).
• Round 2 (Mock Phone-in):Engage in a mock phone-in program between yourself and the audience or a judge.
• Judging Criteria: You will be evaluated on content, spontaneity, fluency, and pronunciation.

JMC Department of IKG PTU Celebrates National Newspaper Day with Creative and Intellectual Competitions

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC), I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKG PTU), celebrated National Newspaper Day with enthusiasm through a Caption Writing Competition and an Intra-Departmental Quiz Competition.

Addressing the students, Dr. Ekta Mahajan, Assistant Professor, said that newspapers are a mirror of society and learning to communicate accurately and creatively is essential for future journalists. She encouraged students to participate in such activities to build creativity and critical thinking.

The program was smoothly anchored by Mandeep (BAJMC 2nd Semester).

The Caption Writing Competition, judged by Dr. Ekta Mahajan, showcased students’ creativity in delivering strong messages in limited words.

Caption Writing Winners:
🥇 Rajvir (BAJMC 2nd Semester)
🥈 Shweta (MAJMC 2nd Semester)
🥉 Mandeep (BAJMC 2nd Semester)

An engaging Quiz Competition was conducted in two rounds to test knowledge of journalism and current affairs. Around 40 students participated in the preliminary round, with five students qualifying for the finals. The quiz was conducted by Karambeer, Research Scholar, along with Shweta (MAJMC 2nd Semester).

🥇 Gurleen (BAJMC 2nd Semester)
🥈 Rahul (BAJMC 4th Semester)
🥉 Jasmine (BAJMC 6th Semester)

Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Head of the Department, congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of students and organizers. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar also spoke about the importance of newspapers in strengthening democracy.

Faculty members present on the occasion included Dr. Mangla Sahni, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Dr. Aabid Reza, Hari K. Singh, and Karan Kumar (Technical Assistant).
