EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dr.S.Vijayakumar,
a Doctorate from the Dept. of Chemical Engineering, A.C.Tech, Anna University, Chennai, in the year 1993 with specialization in Reaction Engineering. He joined Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (S**C), (a South Indian Giant engaged in the manufacture and marketing of agricultural inputs, chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and services) as a Senior Scientist, R&D in the year 1995. He has developed several unique processes for life saving drugs which in turn resulted as Know-How. To say, the process developed for the synthesis of 2-methylpyrazine and 2-cyanopyrazine, intermediates for the representative anti tubercular drug Pyrazinamide, bagged a huge grant of Rs.165 Lakhs form Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) under PATSER (Project Aimed for Technology and Self Reliance) scheme. The successes story was telecasted as a documentary in DD-2 on 24th April 2005 with his interview. His association with S**C in various capacities is for a decade and Joined V.M.K.V. Engineering College initially as Professor and Head of Biotechnology and very soon taken charge as Dean of Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering and Academics. His rich Industrial R&D experience added with academics helped the engineering graduates to become Industry ready Engineers. He also served as Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Centre for Projects and Consultancy at V.M.K.V Engineering College. He has presented many technical papers in various national and international conferences and published research papers in National and International Journals. He has two process patents to his credit. He has 20years of research experience and 10years as academician.

He has taken charge as the Executive Director of this institution during April 2012 not only to transform the students of this institution as prospective employees, but also to inculcate entrepreneurial culture in the institution and developing young entrepreneurs to promote employment opportunities in the innovative areas.
His research project entitled “Digital Fuel Level Indicator for Automobiles” submitted to NRDC, Govt. of India, for all India Competition has bagged consolation prize.
He is instrumental in setting up of consultancy and Material Testing centre at KCE which opens up opportunity to budding engineers to work on real-time projects.
The Management is confident that the students of Karur College of Engineering will emerge as a champion in this tough situation under his headship.
