The School has made its mark in “Public Health” through imparting quality education and conducting innovative research. Students hail from all parts of the globe thereby promoting the acumen acquired in terms of quality, efficiency and effectiveness in the global arena. Courses Offered

Masters in Public Health: This is a 2 year program which seeks to provide s

tudents with an in-depth understanding of issues in public health principles and practice, and apply this to the specific challenges in delivery, research, planning and management of health services in their national context. This is the flagship program offered by the School of Public Health. Biostatistics and Epidemiology: This is a 2 year, 4 semester program which will equip students with the skills necessary to enable them to work across the range of areas covered by the Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health-related fields and Epidemiology. This program serves to train health professionals to have in-depth knowledge of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and its application to important clinical and public health issues. AFIH: The Associate Fellow in Industrial Health course is a 3 months certificate course for Medical Doctors MBBS and Post Graduate Doctors to create occupational health professional for the industrial world. The AFIH students receive the Diploma from Director General Factory Advice Service and Labor India,(DGFASLI )Ministry of Labor Govt of India. This 3 month Diploma program gives them a wide reach to work as Industry Medical Officers anywhere in India

SRM School of Public Health congratulates Dr. Janmejaya Samal, Associate Professor, on the publication of his research paper titled “Delays in Tuberculosis Care Among the Top Ten Tuberculosis High-Burden Countries in the World: A Scoping Review” in the Journal of the Egyptian Public Health Association (Impact Factor: 3.8).

The publication was authored by Dr. Janmejaya Samal, Dr. G. S. Preetha, and Dr. Hari Singh, reflecting a collaborative effort toward advancing research in infectious disease control and global public health.

This significant contribution highlights the critical challenges in tuberculosis care across high-burden countries and reinforces the importance of evidence-based public health interventions. Such impactful research reflects SRMSPH's commitment to advancing global health knowledge and addressing pressing public health issues through scholarly excellence.

Strengthening Global Partnerships in Public Health |

SRM School of Public Health was pleased to host a distinguished delegation from the School of Public Health, The University of Queensland, Australia, for an engaging academic exchange and collaborative discussion.

The visiting delegation comprised:

* Professor Simon Reid, Professor & Director of Global Engagement and Co-Chair, Engagement Committee
* Dr. Preetha Thomas, Director, Teaching and Learning and Senior Lecturer
* Associate Professor Devi Mohan

The answer goes far beyond taste.

SRM School of Public Health proudly celebrates the publication of a research study by Ms. Sruthi Sree, Research Scholar, in Appetite, a leading international journal with an Impact Factor of 3.8.

The study, "Understanding the Influencing Factors of Adolescents’ (12–17) Healthy and Unhealthy Food Choices and Experiences in Tamil Nadu, India: A Socioecological Perspective", explores how family, peers, schools, communities, and social environments shape the eating habits of adolescents.

As childhood obesity, nutritional deficiencies, and lifestyle diseases continue to rise, research like this provides valuable insights that can help build healthier futures for the next generation.

Congratulations to Ms. Sruthi Sree and co-authors Bharathi Palanisamy and Sai Prashanthini Sivakumar for contributing meaningful evidence to the field of public health and nutrition.

Congratulations to Dr. Suman Kanougiya, Associate Professor, School of Public Health, SRMIST, on the publication of the research paper.

Titled: "Self-Medication among Older Adults in Rural India: Structural Gaps in Primary Care and Pain Management"

Published in BMC Health Services Research (Impact Factor: 3.0), the study explores self-medication practices among older adults in rural India and highlights critical gaps in primary healthcare access and pain management.

Authored by Suman Kanougiya, S. Bhaskarpandi, A. Surendhar, R. Dharani, R. Swetha, M. Dhanush, V. Oviya, and B. Vishali, this research contributes valuable evidence to support stronger public health policies and healthcare interventions for ageing populations.

School of Public Health, SRMIST, successfully hosted a hands-on workshop on AI for Public Health on bringing together students, professionals, researchers, and innovators to explore the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in solving real-world public health challenges.

The session was coordinated by our proud alumnus, Mr. Mohan Kumar K, further reflecting the strong alumni contribution towards shaping future-ready learning experiences at SRMSPH.
