Masters in Public Health: This is a 2 year program which seeks to provide s

tudents with an in-depth understanding of issues in public health principles and practice, and apply this to the specific challenges in delivery, research, planning and management of health services in their national context. This is the flagship program offered by the School of Public Health. Biostatistics and Epidemiology: This is a 2 year, 4 semester program which will equip students with the skills necessary to enable them to work across the range of areas covered by the Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health-related fields and Epidemiology. This program serves to train health professionals to have in-depth knowledge of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and its application to important clinical and public health issues. AFIH: The Associate Fellow in Industrial Health course is a 3 months certificate course for Medical Doctors MBBS and Post Graduate Doctors to create occupational health professional for the industrial world. The AFIH students receive the Diploma from Director General Factory Advice Service and Labor India,(DGFASLI )Ministry of Labor Govt of India. This 3 month Diploma program gives them a wide reach to work as Industry Medical Officers anywhere in India

Industrial Visit to MDRF: Insights into Diabetes Research |

Health Data Science students from the School of Public Health, SRMIST, visited the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF) along with Dr. Dhivya and Dr. Prakash.

The visit provided valuable exposure to current trends in diabetes research, highlighting the role of health data, biostatistics, and epidemiology in understanding risk factors and designing interventions. Students also gained insight into how data science supports real-world healthcare decision-making.

The School extends its gratitude to Dr. Baskar and the MDRF team, along with Dr. Venkatesh and Dr. Sathish, for their expert insights and support. The visit strengthened the link between public health, research, and data science.

The session was delivered by Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj, Founder of The Spine Foundation, Mumbai, who offered insightful perspectives on strengthening community-based spine care and expanding access to specialised healthcare across diverse populations. His talk highlighted the intersection of healthcare systems, accessibility, and policy—areas of growing relevance in the legal and regulatory landscape.

Advancing Epidemiological Insight: Guest Lecture Series |

The School of Public Health, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, hosted a two-day Guest Lecture Series on Epidemiology on 23–24 February 2026, featuring Dr. Sujit D. Rathod, Programme Content Director – MSc Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

The sessions explored core epidemiological concepts such as measures of health and disease, measures of effect and impact, stratification for confounding, and an introduction to causal graphs. Through these focused discussions, students gained deeper clarity on analytical approaches used in modern public health research.
