The Technology transfer Group congratulates Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Dean, Research & Development (R&D), IIT Kharagpur, for receiving the prestigious Infosys Prize in Engineering and Computer Science for his pioneering work in elucidating the interaction of fluid mechanics, interfacial phenomena, and electromechanics at the micro- and nanoscale.
It is indeed a great pleasure to share that Professor Suman Chakraborty, Dean, Research and Development (R&D), IIT Kharagpur has been conferred the Infosys Prize 2022 in Engineering & Computer Science for his exceptional contributions and pioneering work in elucidating the interaction of fluid mechanics, interfacial phenomena, and electromechanics at micro and nanoscale.
Prof. Chakraborty’s research interest lies in micro/nano scale fluid dynamics and its applications focused towards sustainable technology goals for promoting good health and well-being of the underserved. The inventor of ‘Paper and Pencil Microfluidics’ technology - a new class of electrically-manipulative miniaturized devices that does not require any sophisticated fabrication-facility, has also innovated a biomimetic tumour-on-a-chip technology for unleashing the mechanisms of cancer progression. Prof. Suman remarked, “It is one of the toughest and most coveted prize. These recognitions drives me to work harder. The objective of any research should be scholastic, scientific and technical breakthrough but it should also be translated for the common people in whatever way possible.”
