A Journey Through Time: M. Tech Memories of SCSQR
As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, we are delighted to share photo collage featuring M. Tech graduating batches of the SCSQR: Subir Chowdhury School of Quality and Reliability.
These photographs represent only a few of the many batches that have been part of this remarkable journey, as photographs from several other batches are currently unavailable.
Each image carries memories of students, friendships, classrooms, laboratories, teachers, and the beginning of professional journeys in Quality, Reliability, and Safety.
The story of SCSQR is deeply rooted in a rich academic legacy. From 1983 to 2016, the journey began as the Reliability Engineering Centre (REC). With its evolution, the SCSQR emerged in January 2017, carrying forward the tradition while expanding its vision and academic contributions.
We also gratefully acknowledge Dr. Subir Chowdhury for his enduring association with the School and his vision that continues to inspire generations of students, researchers, faculty, and alumni, contributing to the continuing journey of QRAMS at IIT Kharagpur.

Celebrating Teachers’ Day at the Subir Chowdhury School of Quality and Reliability (SCSQR), IIT Kharagpur

Teachers’ Day is a beautiful reminder that education is not just about teaching and learning—it is about inspiring, nurturing, sharing, and growing together.

This year, Teachers’ Day at SCSQR was made truly special by the 1st Year PG students of the 2026–2028 batch, who took the initiative to organize a warm, lively, and wonderfully interactive celebration for the entire SCSQR family.

The programme was filled with moments of joy, reflection, and togetherness. From cake cutting and a quiz for the teachers—where, for a change, the students got to test their teachers!—to sharing remarkable academic memories, the celebration brought out many smiles and nostalgic moments.

Our students added their own charm to the occasion through beautiful songs and energetic dance performances, creating an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie.

It was heartening to see M.Tech students, Research Scholars, Professors, and supporting staff colleagues come together and celebrate the spirit of learning beyond the classroom.

A special appreciation goes to our students for the time, creativity, coordination, enthusiasm, and teamwork that went into making the programme so engaging. More than arranging an event, they created an opportunity for all of us to pause, connect, laugh, remember, and celebrate the wonderful teacher–student relationship.

As educators, we often believe that we are here to teach our students. Days like this remind us that we also learn from our students—in their energy, creativity, perspectives, and the way they bring people together.

On behalf of all the Professors and supporting staff colleagues of SCSQR, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all the students for making this Teachers’ Day truly memorable and special.

May the journey of learning and inspiring one another continue—inside and beyond the classroom.

From SCSQR Student to Industry Professional—Coming Back to Inspire the Next Generation!

We were delighted to welcome Mr. Sushil Guhe (Engineering Manager, Balfour Beatty, UK), an esteemed alumnus of the 2007–2009 M.Tech. batch, back to his alma mater—the Subir Chowdhury School of Quality and Reliability (SCSQR), IIT Kharagpur—for an engaging interaction with our students.

Returning to the place where an important part of his professional journey began, Mr. Guhe shared valuable insights from his career, professional experiences, and perspectives on the evolving world of Quality and Reliability. His interaction offered students a wonderful opportunity to learn from someone who once sat in the same classrooms and has since built valuable real-world experience.

The session was engaging, insightful, and inspiring—truly demonstrating the enduring bond between SCSQR and its alumni.
