NAGALAND RASHTRABHASHA PRACHAR SAMITI,
HINDI UCHCHATAR VIDYALAYA, KOHIMA
CELEBRATED 14TH HINDI PAKHWARA

Nagaland Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Hindi Uchchatar Vidyalaya, Kohima, Nagaland observed the HINDI PAKHWARA (WEEK) from 14-21 September 2016 along with the rest of the country and abroad. The main celebration was held on the 21st Sept. at the auditorium of the Samiti with Hindi Education Officer, Directorate of School Education, Shri S.N. Dubey as the Chief Guest. Hindi Coordinator of DSE Dr. B.P. Philip was the Chairman of the Function, Shri Kesaw Kumar Mahatto, AHM of the Institute was the moderator of the programme. The welcome address was delivered by the former Principal Dr. Abhijit Payeng. In the occasion Hindi teachers and students of different schools were present. During the programme heart touching different cultural programme were presented by the students of the Hindi Vidyalaya.

While expressing his concern the Chief Guest, Shri S.N. Dubey, highlighted the importance of Hindi at this present globalized world. In his speech he said that; for the last 32 years of his work experience in the Hindi profession he has seen lot of changes. People’s attitude towards Hindi is very positive. However, there are still rooms for changes in our thinking towards the Official/National language and its development. Without a national language our country will remain dumb. Prior to India’s independence English was the dominant language for official purpose, but post-independence the leaders of India, like the father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel and many more statesmen of that time could foresee the potentiality of Hindi to be the Official/national language of Independent India which also is accepted by a large number of people of the country. Therefore on 14th Sept, 1949 Hindi was given the status of Official language. All the languages are equally important, yet Hindi is the language of communication across the country among the common people and even in some counties abroad. For the progress, propagation and development of Hindi there are many more steps that need to be taken. Presently Hindi is spoken by the second largest population of the world.

Students’ community should not study Hindi just to be a Hindi teacher; they should think beyond that. There are opportunities for Hindi professionals in the form of Social media, Television, translation; especially in Industries, companies and media in both private and public sector there are number of opportunities waiting for good competitive and qualified Hindi professionals. The children of north east India have more opportunity than the other part of the country as they are good in English and if they excel in Hindi, they will have more advantage for being bilingual experts.

In conclusion he pointed out three mantras (points) to be followed by everyone to grab those opportunities which are: students need to be hard working, honest and confident. There is no substitute for hard labor, without honesty passing exams have no value and confidence will embolden one to confront any situation while seeking any job. He also said that if any Hindi posts are advertised there will be thousands of applicants but only the ones who are hard working, honest and confident will avail the benefit.

In the chairman’s remark Dr. Philip also pointed that Hindi is nation’s pride and all the languages of India are jewels of our country. Every step should be taken up for the development of Hindi with job opportunity in various sectors. Programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by HM of the Institute Shri Omprakash Tiwari.
