Science College, Kokrajhar Science College, Kokrajhar of Assam, Dispur. It came into existence with the active co-operation and selfless dedication of the people of Kokrajhar town.

Science College, Kokrajhar was established in the Year 1995, received recognization of UGC under section 2 (f) and 12 (B) of UGC act 1956, vide letter no: 8-381/2005 (cpp1) (Visit : www.ugc.ac.in) and Education department Govt. The college was started at the temporary venue, Rashtrabhasa Vidyapith school, Kokrajhar. On 26th July 1996, Mr. Rajendra Kumar Mushahary, the then state minister WPT and B.C. , Assam laid the foundation stone of the existing college building

This prestigious programme brings together outstanding young minds selected through a rigorous multi-stage national competition, along with eminent academicians, industry leaders, and subject experts to engage in meaningful deliberations on key themes related to the Union Budget 2026. Notably, more than 15,000 youth from across the country participated in this highly competitive exercise.

Science College student selected for National level ‘MY Bharat Budget Quest 2026’

Himadri Deka of B. Sc. 6th Sem., Department of Zoology and Himashree Deka of BPT 4th Sem., Department of Physiotherapy, Science College Kokrajhar, has been shortlisted for the National level Budget Quest Programme (North East Zone) scheduled to be held in Shillong from 12th–13th April, 2026.

The primary objective of the MY Bharat Budget Quest initiative is to enhance awareness among youth about the Union Budget process, deepen their understanding, and foster their connection with policymaking. Participants will actively engage in discussions, group activities, quizzes, and interactive sessions on various budget-related themes. The programme aims to provide a dynamic platform for young individuals to express their ideas while nurturing innovation, critical thinking, and leadership skills.

State/ UT-wise shortlisted youths will get an opportunity to participate in the National level Budget quest of State/UT-wise winners and they will interact with the Hon’ble Prime Minister. The interaction will focus on youth perspective on Union Budget 2026 and interact with a focus on the North East region.

Science College, Kokrajhar student secured place in CM’s Green Fellowship programme:

In inspiring news worth sharing, Mintu Basumatary of Science College, Kokrajhar had earned a place in the 2nd Chief Minister’s Green Fellowship Programme 2025–2026 from Kokrajhar district. He is a dedicated and sincere student from the Department of Botany at Science College, Kokrajhar and was selected in a highly competitive selection process managed by the Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB). This achievement brings immense pride to this College and Kokrajhar district.

For the 2025–2026 batch, Mintu Basumatary had undertaken his training and academic exposure in the month of March along with 22 students from various scientific disciplines across Assam at the University of Malaya in Malaysia, a top-tier Asian university renowned for its research in environmental sciences and sustainability. This opportunity offers valuable insights into sustainable practices, environmental protection strategies, and advanced green technologies, enabling him to contribute to Assam's environmental efforts.

The Assam Pollution Control Board rolled out its flagship initiative, the Chief Minister’s Green Fellowship Programme 2025–26, under the leadership of Chairman, Dr. Arup K. Misra. Marking the second consecutive year of the programme, the initiative aims to build a skilled and environmentally conscious younger generation through international academic and practical exposure.

The CM’s Green Fellowship Programme, an initiative under the Government of Assam, emphasizes environmental sustainability. It targets meritorious students from science, engineering, and related fields, offering them practical, research-oriented exposure to green solutions and innovative technologies.

Mintu Basumatary gratefully acknowledges and offers special thanks to the CEO of EDUPACKED, Er. Prakash Kr. Singh, along with his team, for providing him this valuable opportunity and support. He also conveys special thanks to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, for promoting research and innovation among students through the Chief Minister’s Green Fellowship Programme.

RESULT OF ESSAY COMPETITION

As announced in the official International Women’s Day 2026 poster issued by the Women’s Cell, Science College, Kokrajhar, an Essay Competition was successfully organized among the students of the college to commemorate International Women’s Day 2026. The competition aimed to provide a platform for students to express their views on gender equality, women’s empowerment, resilience, and inclusive development.

The competition was open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students of Science College, Kokrajhar. A total of 10 students participated with great enthusiasm.
