Happy to share the information that Aditya Das and Abhijit Das, fourth semester students of our department have published a review paper titled "Breaking the cold-blooded rule: Opah’s secret to whole-body endothermy" in the International Journal of Aquatic Biology, a SCOPUS-indexed journal, published by Iranian Society of Ichthyology. This paper is now accessible online.

A state-level seminar on "Aquascaping: Where Nature, Art and Enterprise Converge" was conducted today to commemorate National Fish Farmers' Day, 2026. More than 60 aquarium hobbyists attended, including participants from outside our institution. During the demonstration session, the resource person, along with several participants, shared their perspectives on aquascaping. The seminar proved to be a productive event, lasting over three hours and encouraging active participation from those involved.
We express our gratitude to Mr. Ritam Ganguly, a professional aquascaper and the founder of That Fish Place, for agreeing to be the resource person for this seminar and for generously sharing his valuable time and expertise with the participants.

Six students from the VIth semester of our department, namely Ankita Das, Arfa Reaz, Jyotirmoy Debnath, Moupriya Ghorai, Sreeja Dutta, and Swarnali Sarkar, have successfully completed a 15-day summer training program on "Taxonomy of Marine Fishes" at the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Digha Regional Centre. In addition to gaining extensive practical experience in marine fish taxonomy, they also visited the Marine Aquarium Research Centre (MARC), Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) in Digha as part of their training. We express our gratitude to Dr. Grinson George, Director of ICAR-CMFRI, for granting permission for this training program. Our sincere appreciation also goes to Dr. Subal Kumar Roul, Senior Scientist and Scientist-in-Charge at the Digha Regional Station of ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, for his efforts in organizing this training program and for dedicating his valuable time to enhance our students' practical knowledge in marine fish taxonomy.
