Real empowerment depends on the mental strength to navigate adverse situations. By introducing a Certificate Course on Psychological wellbeing, East Calcutta Girls' College is taking a proactive step toward nurturing emotionally aware and resilient young minds.

In collaboration with the Mental Health Society, the college has launched a 30-hour online certificate course on Mental Health.
This initiative reflects our core belief in the vital importance of mental health within educational spaces.

🌼 বসন্ত উৎসব ২০২৬ | East Calcutta Girls’ College 🌼

বসন্ত মানেই নতুন রঙ, নতুন আনন্দ আর নতুন উদ্দীপনা। সেই আনন্দ ও উৎসাহকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে East Calcutta Girls’ College-এ উদযাপিত হলো বাঙালির অন্যতম প্রিয় সাংস্কৃতিক উৎসব বসন্ত উৎসব।

হলুদের আভা, আবিরের রঙ আর হাসি-আনন্দে আজ ক্যাম্পাস যেন হয়ে উঠেছিল এক টুকরো বসন্তের বাগান। 🌸

গান, নৃত্য এবং নানা সাংস্কৃতিক পরিবেশনার মধ্য দিয়ে বসন্তকে জানানো হলো আন্তরিক স্বাগত। চারিদিকে ছিল আনন্দের আবহ, হাসি আর উৎসবের উজ্জ্বল রঙ।

এই উৎসব শুধু রঙের উৎসব নয়—এটি বাঙালির সংস্কৃতি, ঐতিহ্য এবং মিলনের এক অনন্য প্রতীক। বসন্তের এই সুন্দর দিনে শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকা, শিক্ষাকর্মী এবং ছাত্রীরা একসাথে মিলিত হয়ে এই আনন্দঘন মুহূর্তকে আরও স্মরণীয় করে তুলেছেন।

বসন্তের রঙ যেমন প্রকৃতিকে নতুন করে সাজিয়ে তোলে, তেমনি এই উৎসব আমাদের মনকেও ভরে তোলে আনন্দ, ভালোবাসা এবং ইতিবাচকতায়।

সবাইকে জানাই বসন্তের আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা।

🌸 রঙে রঙে ভরে উঠুক জীবন, আনন্দে ভরে উঠুক প্রতিটি মুহূর্ত।

🌸 International Women’s Day 2026 Celebration a Success 🌸

The Women Cell of East Calcutta Girls' College successfully organised an International Women’s Day celebration at the Seminar Hall on 10th March 2026.

The programme featured an inspiring special lecture by Dr. Jonaki Mukherjee on "Inside the Young Mind: Stress, Screens, and Silent Struggles."

The event was further enriched by the presence of Ms. Namrata Bhowmick, a psychologist and the founder of the Mental Health Society. Under her guidance, a certificate course on Psychological Wellbeing will soon be launched in collaboration with the Society.

The enthusiastic participation of students and teachers made the event truly meaningful and memorable.

The college extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Principal, Dr. Ujjaini Mukhopadhyay, the organisers, all students, teachers and staffs for making the programme a grand success.

East Calcutta Girls’ College successfully organised an International Seminar (Hybrid Mode) on “Moving Towards a Digital and Sustainable Future: Opportunities & Challenges” on 6th March 2026.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Departments of Commerce, Economics and IQAC of East Calcutta Girls’ College, in collaboration with Prafulla Chandra College. The event brought together academicians, researchers, and students to discuss the evolving intersection of digital transformation and sustainability in today’s global landscape.

We were honoured to have Dr. Surja Datta (Oxford Brookes Business School) as the Keynote Speaker, who delivered an insightful address on innovation, strategy, and the role of digitalisation in shaping sustainable economic systems.

The seminar was further enriched by the valuable contributions of our distinguished Resource Persons:

• Prof. Pranam Dhar, Professor of Commerce, West Bengal State University
• Dr. Somdeep Chatterjee, Associate Professor in Economics, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta
• CS Arpan Sengupta, Social Impact Assessor and Founder of M/s Arpan Sengupta & Co.

Their thought-provoking discussions highlighted the opportunities, challenges, and responsibilities in building a digitally empowered and environmentally sustainable future.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, researchers, and students, both offline and online, making the seminar a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and academic dialogue.

রক্তে রাঙানো সেই ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি আমাদের শিখিয়েছে —
মাতৃভাষা শুধু কথা বলার মাধ্যম নয়,
এটি আমাদের আত্মার স্পন্দন, আমাদের পরিচয়, আমাদের অস্তিত্ব।

East Calcutta Girls' College-এর Cultural Cell-এর উদ্যোগে আজ গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও আবেগের সঙ্গে পালন করা হলো আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস।
গান, কবিতা, আবৃত্তি ও স্মরণ পর্বের মাধ্যমে ভাষা শহিদদের আত্মত্যাগকে স্মরণ করেছে আমাদের ছাত্রীরা।
যে ভাষায় প্রথম “মা” ডাকতে শিখেছি,
যে ভাষায় স্বপ্ন দেখি, ভালোবাসি, প্রতিবাদ করি—
সেই বাংলা ভাষার জন্য যারা প্রাণ দিয়েছেন,
তাদের প্রতি রইলো অশেষ কৃতজ্ঞতা ও বিনম্র শ্রদ্ধাঞ্জলি।

East Calcutta Girls’ College successfully conducted a month-long Environmental Awareness Programme under the West Bengal Pollution Control Board’s Environment Education Programme and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), in collaboration with the Eco Club, ECGC.

The initiative aimed to promote environmental consciousness and sustainable practices among students, with the active support of college authorities, faculty members, invited experts, and representatives of the West Bengal Pollution Control Board.

We are pleased to share that the programme has been featured in leading newspapers, highlighting the College’s continued commitment to environmental awareness, sustainability, and community engagement. Congrstulation to our esteemed faculty Dr. Sk Moquammel Haque, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany on the successfully publishing a research paper titled "Elite chemotype selection and meta-Topolin (mT) mediated mass propagation of underutilized medicinal plant Solanum villosum Mill. for sustainable production of the bioactive compound Solasodine" in 'Vegetos' an International Journal of Plant Research & Biotechnology”.

ইস্ট কলকাতা গার্লস্ কলেজের বাংলা বিভাগের উদ্যোগে একদিনের আন্তর্জাতিক আলোচনাচক্র
“প্রসঙ্গ: শিশু–কিশোর সাহিত্য”
সাফল্য ও গাম্ভীর্যের সঙ্গে সম্পন্ন হলো।

শিশু–কিশোর সাহিত্য কেবল বিনোদনের পরিসর নয়—তার মধ্যেই নিহিত থাকে ভবিষ্যৎ প্রজন্মের মানসগঠন, নৈতিক চেতনা ও কল্পনাশক্তির বীজ। এই উপলব্ধিকে কেন্দ্র করেই আলোচনাচক্রে উঠে আসে শিশু–কিশোর সাহিত্যের ঐতিহাসিক ধারাবাহিকতা, ভাষার স্বাতন্ত্র্য, কল্পনার ভূমিকা, সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতা এবং সমকালীন প্রেক্ষাপটে তার প্রয়োজনীয়তা।

দেশ ও বিদেশের খ্যাতনামা শিক্ষাবিদ, গবেষক ও সাহিত্যিকবৃন্দ তাঁদের প্রাজ্ঞ আলোচনা ও অভিজ্ঞতার আলোকে শিশু–কিশোর সাহিত্যকে নতুন করে পাঠের দৃষ্টিতে দেখার আহ্বান জানান। বক্তৃতাগুলিতে গবেষণাভিত্তিক বিশ্লেষণের পাশাপাশি সাহিত্যিক অনুভবের সংবেদনশীল প্রকাশ আলোচনাকে করে তোলে গভীর ও মননশীল।

আলোচনাচক্রে ছাত্রীদের উৎসাহী ও সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ বিশেষভাবে উল্লেখযোগ্য। প্রশ্নোত্তর ও মতবিনিময়ের মাধ্যমে শিক্ষার্থীরা শিশু–কিশোর সাহিত্য সম্পর্কে তাদের ভাবনা, কৌতূহল ও উপলব্ধি প্রকাশের সুযোগ পায়—যা অনুষ্ঠানটির একাডেমিক সার্থকতাকে আরও বৃদ্ধি করে।

এই আন্তর্জাতিক আলোচনাচক্র প্রমাণ করে যে সাহিত্যচর্চা কেবল পাঠ্যক্রমে সীমাবদ্ধ নয়; বরং তা সমাজ, মনন ও মানবিকতার সঙ্গে গভীরভাবে যুক্ত এক সজীব প্রক্রিয়া। ভবিষ্যতেও এ ধরনের আলোচনার মাধ্যমে জ্ঞানচর্চা ও সৃজনশীল বোধকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার অঙ্গীকার রইল।

বাংলা বিভাগ আন্তরিক কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাচ্ছে সকল সম্মানিত বক্তা, রিসোর্স পার্সন, শিক্ষকবৃন্দ, ছাত্রছাত্রী ও সহযোগীদের—যাঁদের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ ও সহায়তায় এই আলোচনাচক্র স্মরণীয় হয়ে উঠেছে।
