Institute of Business Management & Research, Kolkata was established in the year 1976 under the guidance of late Dr. S.N.Sen, the then Vice-Chancellor of Calcutta University. The Institute, later on, has been approved by the All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Govt. of India and has been affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology
(WBUT) since 2001 for conducting Two Year full time (Day) and Three year (evening) Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses. IBMR is also conducting under graduate courses in management related areas under WBUT. IBMR has a rigorous training program which enables the successful students to become globally competent manager. Institute of Business Management & Research mainly aims at the improvement of management practices. The method of learning is set through lecture sessions in English with case study approach. The group study method is one of the most effective devices to ensure participation of students in learning process of management problems and making decision. Besides, seminars, group discussions, role playing etc. are organized for effective teaching etc. Factory visits are organized for exposing the participants to the practical situations.
