From Classroom Concepts to Real-World Impact: Capstone-1 at IMI Kolkata
At IMI Kolkata, learning moves beyond the classroom into real businesses, real challenges, and measurable impact.
The Capstone-1: Local Business Accelerator (LBA) 5.0 Student-Industry-Faculty Meet, held on 22nd August 2026, brought together students, faculty, and industry partners to begin an immersive journey of experiential learning and problem-solving.
Prof. Mohua Banerjee, Director, IMI Kolkata, shared the Institute’s vision for innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning, followed by Dr. Sachin Modgil, Associate Professor – Operations & Supply Chain, IMI Kolkata who highlighted LBA’s distinctive approach to applying classroom concepts to live business challenges.
With 42 MSMEs participating in LBA 5.0 and 84+ local business partners engaged across the programme’s journey, students will work closely with businesses under the philosophy of “No Teaching. No Exam. No Syllabus.” They will navigate unstructured challenges, take ownership, respond to feedback, and work towards solutions that create measurable business impact.
The event also featured the felicitation of LBA partners and meaningful Student-Industry-Faculty interactions to align deliverables and Letters of Impact.
Capstone-1 is about developing managers who don’t just know business concepts—but know how to apply, adapt, and create impact in the real world.
Because the future of management learning is not just about knowing what to do, but learning how to do it.
