The Bengali unit of AICUF West Bengal took up the initiative of organising 'Adaya 2019' in collaboration with the AICUF unit of St. Xavier's College, Burdwan. The theme for the event was '29 redefined' and was held on sunday, the 24th of February at the college premises. The programme was a joint endeavour to bring together the different units of AICUF West Bengal, with an aim to promote unity, socio-cultural awareness and harmony.
The day began with a peace procession as a mark of respect for all the brave martyred jawans of the Pulwama attack. Soon after, the opening ceremony began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.
The dignitaries stressed upon the essence of social responsibility and the importance of AICUF as a movement. A welcome dance by the Burdwan unit was organised, following which the event began with each college highlighting our culture through folk songs, cultural dance and an engaging dance drama. A team building excersize along with a group discussion on essential social themes was also held, namely- Waste management, Conservation of Indigenous languages, Pollution, Global warming and Social ethics/remedial measures.
A plantation drive was undertaken in the second half of the programme, with representatives from each AICUF unit planting saplings, to symbolise a promise of mutual growth and vitality for the future.
We are immensely grateful to Rev. Fr. Mourlin Fernando, Vice-Principal, St. Xavier's College, Burdwan and to all the students of the AICUF unit of Burdwan, for their undying cooperation and hospitality in ensuring the success of this endeavour.
All in all, Adaya 2019 was a successful event which ended on a memorable high, amidst joy, unity and with the promise of a unified, brighter future for all AICUFers!
