A day well spent with the students of Gokhale Memorial Girl’s College. Being invited to moderate Youth Parliament I had a wonderful experience of interacting with a batch of bright and energetic students. A part of their programme for Viksit Bharat, the college arranged for a Mock Parliament debate on the question of the fate of the Princely States on the eve of Independence and Partition. I was really impressed by the way the students took the initiative to research and prepare themselves for the event. What can be more rewarding for a history teacher! Thanks to Dr. Atashi Karpha, the principal for being a source of inspiration for the students. My sincere thanks to Prof Kamalini Dasgupta, Dr. Sanjukta De and Prof Aditi Chatterjee for their warm hospitality.

Dum Dum Motijheel College, History Department took an initiative to celebrate the concept of Viksh*t Bharat in their own unique way.
A short tour was arranged on 11 August 2026, to make a visit to the National Library to show them the First Immersive Museum of language which they thoroughly enjoyed.
The students were also taken to pay homage to Rishi Arabindo Ghosh at Arabindo Bhavan as 15 August also marks the birth anniversary of this freedom fighter. Our teachers affectionately guided the students to have a different look of history
