Brandwagon, The Marketing club at IIFT The Marketing and Sales club at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata Smart and acute marketing often makes the difference between failure and success.

In an increasingly connected world, people are now presented with more choices than ever before. Brandwagon, the marketing club of IIFT Kolkata, aims to inculcate students with the marketing and sales knowledge they need, in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice. randing competitions, conferences, workshops, and a quarterly marketing magazine “MarkMantra”, Brandwagon ensures that every student at IIFT excels out in the real world by providing them with hands-on marketing experience. Brandwagon aims to challenge individuals to move beyond jargon and clichéd theory and explore the real world of marketing. This is done by providing a platform for IIFTians to express their creativity, to use their acumen in industry analysis, and invest time and effort in live projects and related activities. Brandwagon also helps in updating members’ knowledge of marketing by keeping them abreast with the latest happenings in the world of marketing.

Everyone is aware of the changes and disruption in everyone’s lifestyle and forced change in content consumption patterns due to the microscopic-but-omnipresent virus, COVID-19.

Keeping that in mind,
Brandwagon, The Marketing club at IIFT, is excited to bring you 's sixth edition featuring very interesting articles on “Content consumption patterns before and after COVID-19”.
The articles were penned down by the winners of “Call for Creativity” competition, a nationwide writing competition. The articles are from:

The students of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata engaged with Mr Anand Swarup Laskar in an interactive on the topics like , on 10th of December, 2020. Mr. Laskar is currently the Head of Toshiba business, Europe. He has significant experience in business development and P/L management, and has reported to CEO’s and Presidents of firms valuing billions of Dollar.

The session started with a discussion on how works and what is the of consumer durable across the world. He passed on the knowledge of Pyramid Structure to the students and how potential are identified and made which align with long term goals of the company. The speaker went on to explain how the work to provide wider reach to the brand. In the last part of the discussion, the speaker gave insights on and how Key Opinion Leaders, Micro influencers and Digital Marketing are taking over as the new marketing methods.

Brandwagon, The Marketing Club at IIFT Kolkata is very excited to host Mr Anand Swarup Laskar , Head of Toshiba Business-Europe at Lifestyle Division, for a Webinar Session.

The session will be hosted by Dr. Saikat Banerjee, GMC Head of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade on 10th December. The discussion would be covering a range of topics from and to .

Mr. Laskar has been serving in for almost two years now. He plans to establish and create a new business vertical at the level to achieve a $75M turnover scale by 2023. IIFT had the proud privilege of hosting Mr. Sanjay Panigrahi, the Former Chief Customer Officer at Pidilite Industries as an esteemed speaker for the Marketing Summit at the sixth annual business summit of IIFT- Vivaan 6.0.
Mr. Panigrahi, a veteran in the field of marketing, spoke about the impact of the Coivd-19 pandemic on the world of business with a special focus on the food industry in the non-essential products category, with an important factor being an increase in the need to boost immunity. He, with more than three decades of experience in the field, emphasized that the way out of the turmoil caused by the pandemic is to continuously innovate and develop new categories to meet the needs of the moment. Mr. Panigrahi explained for the attendees’ several consumer behaviour phenomena observed during the lockdowns, with increased importance in the role of ‘the mother’ in a rural household, and a dramatic rise in online retail for essential items. He also shed light on the future of the industry with traditional strategies being replaced because of challengers and predictive analytics will be used in dynamic route planning.

IIFT had the proud privilege of hosting Mr. Karan Kumar, the Senior Vice President and CMO of DLF Limited as an esteemed speaker for the Marketing Summit at the sixth annual business summit of IIFT- Vivaan 6.0.
Mr. Kumar, a corporate leader and dynamic leader explained how in the face of pandemic a company would need to transform their offering to be more customer-centric and be a force for reassurance, comfort, and trust to be ahead in their sectors. He spoke about revolutionizing the space of work to combine the need for physical distancing with social cohesion. Focusing on sales, he talked about the need for paying attention to the psyche of frontline salespeople as their training of personal interactions will not be as effective in this current scenario. The only thing that would work, he said, were honest, continuous engagements combined with empathy and that is what would lead a company to become the most preferred brand, commit, and over-deliver. “Build trust; you will sell automatically”, were his parting thoughts, which are sure to guide future managers and marketers in their career paths.

IIFT is honoured to have hosted Mr. Harshavardhan Chauhaan, Vice President, Marketing and Omnichannel of Spencer's Retail and Nature's Basket as an esteemed speaker at Vivaan-6.0- The International Business Summit.
Mr. Chauhaan, a corporate stalwart in the field of marketing, talked about how marketing is the process of meeting the needs, wants, and desires of consumers, but in this changing world, the process has to become omnichannel to be effective for an increasingly diversifying population. Marketing is more about customer value proposition, Mr. Chauhaan emphasized, and that CVP is the first principle in marketing 4.0. He talked about how the need to be customer-centric is increasing and that there is a big shift. The marketing funnel has become more granular and it now encompasses the measuring and attribution tools. Mr. Chauhaan also spoke about the future of marketing and the trends, such as a sharp rise in the C2C phenomenon, increasing importance of content, as well as word of mouth becoming an increasingly effective method of marketing. His inputs on the present and future of marketing provided new insights into the arena for the budding managers.

IIFT had the proud privilege of hosting Ms. Namita Liz Koshy, Vice President at Ogilvy, Delhi-NCR, as an esteemed speaker for the Marketing Summit at the sixth annual business summit of IIFT- Vivaan 6.0.
A specialist in building brands in a digital-first world, Ms. Koshy, talked about how innovation is key to the success of any organization, as well as how it is the inventors are the ones who take the risk of the market being not ready to accept their inventions, but innovations are the only path to accelerated growth. She shed light on how marketing has moved from the mass market era to an era of relevance, in this era of the pandemic and the technological revolution. She spoke about how Marketing aids the relationship between business and audiences in the world, be a responsible marketer who uses the power for the greater good of the business, she also talked about how technology is unrestrictive for the field of advertising and marketing and will represent the future of the industry. She emphasized how sustainability is mainstream today and being more harmonious is key. IIFT had the proud privilege of hosting Mr. Rajnish Kishore, the Head of Marketing and Communications- Analytics, Web and Content Production, for Ericsson-India Global Services as an esteemed speaker for the Marketing Summit at the sixth annual business summit of IIFT- Vivaan 6.0.
Mr. Kishore, a marketing stalwart having industry experience spanning over 18 years, spoke about how Covid has shifted the traditional ways of working and living and how it will be those businesses that take this citation, turn it into an opportunity and innovate their strategies and product to be what the consumers require. As an industry leader, Mr. Kishore spoke about the future workforce will be required to be more flexible and adaptable to the way the landscape of business will be revolutionized due to technology, disruption, and the unexpected effects of the pandemic.
