Government of India established Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute in 1995 as an autonomous academic institution under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.The Institute was subsequently registered under the West Bengal Societies Registration Act, 1961. Located at Kolkata and named after the legendary film maestro Satyajit Ray, the Institute, the second of its kind in the country, is

a National Centre offering post-graduate diploma courses in Film and Television. Besides offering regular full time courses, the Institute has plans to undertake project development, funding and production of fiction and non-fiction films. In addition, research work on film and television related issues are in the offing

💫 The campus of SRFTI witnessed an inspiring interaction as Shri Suressh Gopi, President of the SRFTI Society and Honourable Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, visited the Acting Masterclass conducted by Samadarshi Dutta, HOD, Screen Acting, FTII, Itanagar Campus.

✨ Students of the Screen Acting department of the Film and Television Institute of India Itanagar joined in an acting Masterclass at the New CRT at the SRFTI campus. During this initiative, Shri Gopi visited the campus and interacted with the students and shared thoughts with them.

💫 Anitha had the opportunity to take part in The Filmmakers' Fortnight, organised by the SRF (Société des réalisateurs et des réalisatrices de films)—the French Directors' Society, which issued accreditation to participants in its 58th edition, which took place in Cannes, France.

🎉 Her journey to the 58th Quinzaine des Cinéastes added another feather to the crown of our prestigious alumni.

✨ Quinzaine des Cinéastes (also known as the Directors' Fortnight) is an independent, non-competitive section of the Cannes Film Festival dedicated to discovering and promoting avant-garde and singular cinematic visions.

✨ On the occasion of the 14th Convocation of Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Shri Suresh Gopi, Hon’ble Minister of State for Tourism and Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, and President of the SRFTI Society, visited the campus and inaugurated the SRFTI Incubation Centre established under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

⚡ The Incubation Centre has been set up to support and nurture startups in the media, entertainment, and creative sectors, strengthening innovation and entrepreneurship within the audio-visual ecosystem.

🎉 During his visit, the Honourable Minister also paid floral tribute to the statue of Satyajit Ray, honouring the legendary filmmaker’s enduring legacy and contribution to Indian cinema.

💫 The occasion marked an important turning point for SRFTI as it continues to expand its role in film, television, digital media education, and creative industry development.

A memorable evening celebrating creativity, dedication, and cinematic excellence.

SRFTI was honoured to host its 14th Convocation Ceremony in the esteemed presence of Shri Suresh Gopi, Hon’ble Minister of State for Tourism & Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, and President of the SRFTI Society. We were equally privileged to welcome eminent filmmaker Shri Sudhir Mishra as the Chief Guest.

The occasion was further enriched by the prestigious Ray Memorial Lecture delivered by noted film scholar, art curator, and cultural theorist Shri Ashish Rajadhyaksha, followed by vibrant cultural performances of music and dance.

As our graduating students step into the world of cinema and media, we celebrate their passion, perseverance, and artistic journey.
