Sienna Calcutta Sienna is a homegrown brand that that tells the story of Bengal through its craft and food design.

Sienna was born out of a need to preserve, nurture and re-visit the ancient art forms of rural India. Founder Sulagna Ghosh collaborates with the artisans to create modern and functional products using age old methods of producing terracotta and glazed pottery, handspun textiles, woodwork and cane artifacts, among others. Having been brought up in India’s culture capital Calcutta, in a household that fostered the arts, she always knew that she would be happiest in the field of creative design. After graduating from university in New York, she returned to Bengal at an opportune time. Equipped with a global outlook she joined her mother’s folk art workshop in Santiniketan , which was set up to provide employment to the rural people in the surrounding area. She connected deeply with the cause and through this her inherent passion for design found a channel. A serious patron of the arts, she is committed to the preservation of these time honored traditions. Additionally she recognizes the need to breathe new life into classic art forms by introducing modern designs and techniques to these craftsmen. She strives to break down cultural boundaries and existing prejudices to enable collaboration between different artisans specializing in different art forms. Through the storefronts in Kolkata she is determined to pave for these gifted artisans the avenues they need to bring their products to a larger metropolitan marketplace.

pujo begins long before you step out.

unhurried afternoons, jewellery chosen with care, kajal borrowed and passed around, and stories carrying on as the first sounds of dhaak drift in.

our saris are made for these moments — soft cottons, playful prints, floral embroidery and little details for the festive season.

and then, the house fills up again. familiar faces return for pujo, rooms get louder, the evening gathers around you, and everyone congregates, dressed for the season.

this pujo, there’s something for everyone at sienna. stop by while you’re in the neighbourhood — take a break over an iced tea at the café or stay for a long lunch in the dining room.

dhaak, dhunuchi, and the smell of camphor in the air — pujo, in a few familiar notes.

we started with a slightly strange question: what if dhunuchi became a dessert?

the dhunuchi makes its way in as both smoke and flavour, giving the camphor ice cream its unmistakable character.
alongside coconut panna cotta, a crisp biscuit inspired by bengal’s coconut tokṭi, and mint oil, it brings together the tastes, textures and aromas of pujo that linger in the air

pujo is almost here, so come by 49/1 hindustan park for an early taste

bengal’s food culture is full of unexpected crossings.

echor has been part of our kitchen for centuries, while the seekh kebab found its place in calcutta through histories of migration, exchange, and innovation.

our echor seekh brings the two together — echor, doi and bhaja moshla, reworked through the char, shape and skewer of a kebab.

swipe through to follow the journey.

waiting for you at 49/1 hindustan park.
