The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (PG section) Women’s College, Calcutta, organised a special lecture by Mr. Prasenjit Baksi, Consulting Editor, Prasar Bharati on 6th of October, 2026. The lecture was attended by the first, third and fourth semester students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (PG).
The session focused on the practical dimensions of journalism and field reporting, with Mr. Baksi drawing extensively from his own professional experience in the field. He shared first-hand experiences from his career and discussed the realities, challenges and responsibilities involved in reporting news across different situations and contexts. The session provided students with valuable insights into the working environment of professional journalism and helped them relate their academic learning to the practical experiences of a working journalist.
