Since its inception, the Society has hosted a painting exhibition called ‘Wallbrush’, and it annually conducts a photography competition and a Western Music Concert. Over the years, it has harnessed the talents of individuals like Ashwika Kapoor, a Wildlife Photographer/Filmmaker & Conservationist and a former Secretary, Nicholas Rixon and Shubhodip Banerjee, the If’s and But’s duo, who have gone on to become established artists in the city and beyond.

The Fine Arts society never ceases to suprise you and reckon what, this Carnival Of Rust is not going to be in the absence of that previously heartfelt euphoria because Apurva Tamang is goint to be back with his magical-musical ride once more! You cannot spell women without 'men'. You cannot spell female without 'male'. But, you can surely envision and create a world with both in it. You can breathe as a man and respect a woman. You can work as a woman and ask to be paid like a man. Or, you could just live as a woman or a man and exist as a human. Be there for people, treat everyone like you would treat yourself on a Sunday and love others like you love binging on chocolates.

But, most importantly women must and must stand in solidarity with other women, like Kamala Das says in her poem:
"I have no joys that are not yours, no
Aches which are not yours. I too call myself I."

The Fine Arts Society is again bringing to you the grand event of Carnival of Rust.

Carnival of Rust is one of the flagship events of the society and is an extravaganza of creativity. Under the curriculum we have a large number of exciting events. Stand up Comedy is always the most attractive event as it gifts us hearty laughter.Next, we have Pop Quiz.Pile up all the information you can on divese topics.Get your brushes ready to bring out the innates of your mind in the Face Painting event.
In the Speed Art event, unleash the athlete artist in you and in the Western Dance event, join us to write the stories of your love for dance.Perform in front of a live audience to shake them with your originality in Unconventional Orchestra.

The event will be organized for two days from 11th to 12th March.
With such a exciting schedule, join us in the Carnival of Rust to create and to celebrate.

"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”

It's time to let the magic of music take over and embrace us all as we beat to the tunes that captivate our hearts. We present to you the Western Music Concert as a part of our event Carnival of Rust. An art form that is so diverse but yet brings so many of us together. Music is a force that has the unimaginable strength to make us laugh and cry, sometimes both at the same time. A right song at the right time can work miracles and that's what we hope to achieve. Join us as we celebrate the powerful art of music that blends itself to suit us all.

Like a man who sinks in his imagination and explores a sea of opportunities, explore the realms of skills that incite a feeling. Skills that put together a masterpiece, unify different colours on a canvas, sketch out a new meaning and capture a moment of awe.

Not long after pioneers like Da Vinci and Bresson laid down the foundations of "picturing the perfect", that The Fine Arts Society of St. Xavier's College (Autonomous) Kolkata came up with a platform to "picture till perfection".
MOSAIQUE 2020, one of the main attractions of our flagship event Carnival of Rust stands strong to honour how women take up space in all aspects of one's life. We acknowledge their sacrifices, love, respect, integrity and labour that lead the way to a better future.

With this theme in mind send us your submissions starting from 2nd March 2020. Your work of art will be showcased in Fr. Depechelin Auditorium on the 12th of March 10:30AM onwards.

Art is a language that doesn’t speak in particular words. It speaks in emotions, and if it’s in the bones, it’s in the bones.

The Fine Arts society of St. Xavier's college Kolkata is a blend of love for art and elevating talent and skills.We are proud to come up with another edition of our Final Event of the session 2019-20, The Carnival of Rust.

To call it an event will be undermining the celebration that follows. Carnival of Rust is a plethora of emotions that take the form of Music and Art, leading as an example as to how we have managed to harmonize Melody and brush strokes.
