Jadavpur University - Department of Power Engineering

The Department was established in the year 1989 at the Salt Lake Campus of the University. The department is also a UGC-SAP and DST-FIST supported one.

The Department has been established in the year 1989 at the Salt Lake Campus of the University. Department of Power Engineering aims at imparting fundamental and applied knowledge in the interdisciplinary areas of power generation, storage, transmission and distribution at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. It aspires to emerge as a globally recognized department in imparting quality

education to produce successful power engineers. Its undergraduate course is NBA-accredited , and it offers a diverse and interdisciplinary coverage of relevant mechanical and electrical engineering subjects, and specialized topics on thermal, hydro, nuclear and renewable/non-conventional power generations. The program also emphasizes on industrial visits for practical training in operating power plants. The faculty pool is internationally recognized for their contribution in the field of power and energy. The department also boasts of a network of distinguished alumni spanning across academia and industry.
