We at SVU, are pleased to host a Financial Literacy and Investor Awareness Programme across India, organised by BSE Limited (formerly Bombay Stock Exchange) under the aegis of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), on 6th October, 2026.

The programme focused on promoting financial literacy, investor protection, and informed participation in the securities market. Participants were sensitised to safe investment practices, financial planning, fraud prevention, cyber safety, and responsible investing. The initiative aimed to empower citizens with the knowledge and confidence required to make informed financial decisions, while contributing to financial inclusion and economic empowerment. Such awareness programmes are an important step towards building a financially informed and resilient society.

School of Management, Swami Vivekananda University Congratulates Mr. Dhrubajyoti Ray on Successfully Defending His PhD Thesis!

The School of Management takes immense pride in announcing that Mr. Dhrubajyoti Ray has successfully defended his doctoral thesis in the Final Viva Voce Examination held on 30th June 2026. His thesis, titled *"Trends, Challenges and Future Prospects of Real Estate Development: An Empirical Study on Durgapur Municipal Corporation"* , was examined by Prof. (Dr.) Pradipta Banerjee, Professor, Department of Commerce, Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, as External Examiner. The Viva was chaired by Prof. Malayendu Saha, Director, School of Management, and attended by Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Mukhopadhyay, Director, School of Sciences; Dr. Sanjay Bhattacharya (Supervisor and co-examiner); Dr. Priyajit Banerjee, Officer on Special Duty, PhD Cell; Prof. Kallol Banerjee; Dr. Anirban Hazra; Dr. Soumya Mukherjee; Dr. Mohd. Niyaz Ahmed; Dr. Avik Das, Dr. Atiba Batul; and other esteemed faculty members of the School of Management and the PhD Cell.

The thesis presents a comprehensive empirical investigation into the real estate ecosystem of Durgapur Municipal Corporation — a Tier-II industrial city of West Bengal. Grounded in a census of all 46 WBRERA-registered developers, it explored the evolving trends, structural challenges, and future prospects of real estate development through a multi-scalar, multi-method framework.
Key highlights include:
* A novel Composite Real Estate Dynamics Index (REDI) identifying Durgapur as West Bengal's most stable and sustainable Tier-II real estate market.
* An AHP suitability ranking placing Durgapur first among Tier-II cities with a score of 8.84/10.
* Evidence that financial capital, not age, drives developer performance.
* Validation of a Credibility-Effectiveness-Impact framework showing digital platforms now dominate real estate marketing.
* A statistically significant 33.3% reduction in regulatory approval times over five years, with WBRERA emerging as the institutional benchmark.
* An integrated AHP-FAHP model identifying Economic Factors and Regulatory Environment as the dominant determinants of development.

The research offers actionable insights for policymakers, regulators, and developers, and establishes replicable analytical tools applicable to Tier-II cities across India.

Expert-Led Talk on Computational Thinking & Artificial Intelligence

It was a privilege and an enriching experience for Dr. Kallal Banerjee to serve as a Resource Person for an Expert-Led Talk on Computational Thinking (CT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), organised by H. M. Education Centre on 22nd August 2026.
The session brought together faculty members from different academic domains representing several leading CBSE schools, with the objective of strengthening their understanding of the emerging role of Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence in education.

The discussion focused on how Computational Thinking can develop logical reasoning, problem-solving, analytical thinking, creativity, and structured decision-making, while Artificial Intelligence can open new avenues for innovative teaching-learning practices, personalised education, and future-ready skill development.
It was indeed a wonderful opportunity for Dr. Kallal Banerjee to interact with educators who are committed to preparing students for an increasingly AI-driven and technology-enabled world. The active participation, thoughtful questions, and enthusiasm of the faculty members made the session highly engaging and meaningful.
Heartfelt appreciation is extended to H. M. It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the untimely passing of Ms. Anusuya Singha Roy, a bright and cherished student of our BBA HM program.

She was not only an enthusiastic learner but also a kind-hearted and spirited individual who brought warmth and positivity to everyone around her. Her presence in the classroom, her dedication to her studies, and her genuine smile will always be remembered by her peers, faculty, and the entire School of Management community.

Though her journey was cut short, the impact she made in her time with us will never be forgotten. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
