The School of Management at Swami Vivekananda University organized an industrial tour to Rolling Pin Gourmet, providing students with valuable industry exposure in the field of bakery and confectionery. The visit was hosted by Chef Arup Dastidar, who warmly welcomed the students and introduced them to the organizational structure of the firm. He explained the hierarchy of staff and their respective roles, helping students understand the functioning of a professional bakery setup.
During the session, students were given a comprehensive overview of the processes involved in making bread, cakes, and cookies. Chef Arup Dastidar elaborated on the characteristics and importance of various ingredients used in baking, enhancing the students’ technical knowledge. The explanations bridged the gap between classroom learning and practical application, making the session highly informative.
The students also observed the different stages of production carried out using specialized machinery, gaining firsthand experience of large-scale bakery operations. The School of Management, Swami Vivekananda University, organized an industry visit to ITC Ltd., Food Division, Uluberia, on March 30, 2026, for postgraduate students of Business Management. The visit was led by faculty members Dr. Sourav Chatterjee and Mr. Mainak Banerjee.

Upon arrival, Mr. Vikas Singh, HR Manager, ITC Food Division, welcomed the students with an informative presentation on the unit's operations, organizational structure, and production capabilities. The students were then provided with the necessary safety gear and guided through various production departments, where they observed modern machinery and standardized processes in action. This gave them valuable insights into the manufacturing process of one of West Bengal's largest food processing units.

The visit concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where students clarified their doubts regarding operations, quality assurance, and workflow management. The excursion proved to be a highly enriching learning experience, helping students connect theoretical concepts with real-world industrial practices. ✨ Bridging Culinary Excellence with Industry Expertise ✨

The School of Management, Swami Vivekananda University successfully organized an enriching workshop for the students of Hotel and Hospitality Administration on 19th March.

We were privileged to host Chef Ashish Sarkar, former Executive Chef of Lemon Tree Premier Hotel and Holiday Inn Airport Kolkata, who conducted an insightful and engaging session at our campus.

Chef Sarkar introduced students to the concept of Nouvelle Cuisine—a modern culinary approach that emphasizes fresh ingredients, light cooking techniques, minimal use of sauces, artistic presentation, and continuous innovation. His session not only deepened students’ understanding of contemporary culinary trends but also provided valuable insights into professional kitchen practices.

Such interactive sessions play a vital role in shaping our students into industry-ready professionals by connecting academic learning with real-world expertise.
