The college is christened after two renowned personalities Late Taradevi Kankaria and Shri Harak Chand Kankaria. Late Tara Devi is honoured, appreciated and remembered for her philanthropism and selfless services to the poor and destitute. She served men and women from the lower stratum of the society, morally encouraging and financially supporting the ailing people, helping them to recover. Peopl

e, out of respect and gratitude, considered her the Florence Nightingale of the East. She was the wife of Shri Harak Chand Kankaria and was his constant companion and friend. She had always inspired him and her two sons Shri Jal Kankaria and Shri Avanti Kankaria to donate generously for the noble cause of Education and making it accessible to all by providing scholarships and other aids to the needy students. She was a Mother-figure to many and a fountain of hope and benevolence. Shri Harak Chand Kankaria, apart from being a successful industrialist and businessman, has a golden heart which empathizes with numerous needy people and has been continuously helping them, be it in the sphere of education or in receiving medical treatment.
