Arts and Science College, Kondotty, started in 2013 as per GO.(m.s) No.565/13/H.E.D dt:17/08/2013 is located in a remote village called Vilayil which is about 12 KMs away from Kondotty town and 15 KMs far from the Calicut International Airport. It is affiliated to the University of Calicut, is offering five degree programs including two conventional degrees and three job oriented new generation pr
ograms . There are, at present, five major departments offering programs leading to graduation in Functional English, Mathematics, Urdu with Computer application and Multi –lingual DTP and Tourism and Hotel Management. The number of intakes for all programs is 24 save B.Com in which the strength is forty. Located in a greenery blessed surrounding and engulfing purity of village life, the college functions as a prospective centre of knowledge and instruction for hundreds of students around who really belong to the under privileged sections in the society. It’s worth special attention that the majority of the student community currently pursuing their studies at the college belong to the different sections of minorities in the society. A good chunk of them are OBCs/SCs/STs.Though started in 2013 , the academic environment in the college is on a par with any other well established institutions around.

In the budget of 2013-14, Govt of Kerala, announced its intention to establish new Arts and Science colleges in those assembly constituencies where there is no such colleges. Government identified 22 such assembly constituencies in Kerala and Kondotty Assembly Constituency was one among them. The enthusiastic MLA of Kondotty Constituency, Mohammed Unni Haji, approached government to issue orders to establish the college. Dr. K Abdul Hameed, retired Principal, EMEA College of Arts and Science, Kondotty was , thus, appointed as the Special Officer. Five UG courses were sanctioned and the college started functioning in a temporary building (Maluharul Islam Secondary Madrassa, Cheriyaparambu) on September 12, 2013 with a total of 136 students. On 28, 2013 the first PTA meeting was held and committee was formed. At the beginning stage itself, students were given qualitative education and intensive training in extracurricular activities. Another milestone in the history of the college was the appointment of the first Principal Prof. After his tenor, Dr. AK Abdul Gafoor was appointed as the principal in charge. The second permanent principal was Dr. Kunheenkutty who got transferred to Government college Malappuram in September ,2014. The college has evolved itself as a promising centre of learning and education under the excellent leadership of these personalities. Dr. Surendran Nair is the present principal of the college.
