The Central Library, Central University of Odisha has successfully conducted two days "Virtual Library Orientation Programme" for the newly admitted students for the academic session 2020-21, which was held on 6th and 8th January 2021 through Google Meet and Cisco Webex Online Platform. Around 200 students, faculty members and library staffs have participated in this programme.
Librarian I/c, Dr. Bijayanada Pradhan introduced the users about the need & purpose of virtual orientation programme. He delivered a short lecture on plagiarism and its negative effects towards the academic integrity especially in higher education, open access resources & open course-ware etc. Further in the session, Sh. Rudra Narayan, Professional Assistant, discussed about the standard guidelines, rules and regulations while accessing the library resources and facilities. Sh. Anuj Kr. Singh (IT Consultant) had a valuable discussion on online library membership and how to access the e-resources facilities remotely along with the Govt. Initiatives and other useful resources like MOOCs, SWAYAM, and Spoken Tutorial etc. The session was very interactive and useful to the users, where users’ queries had taken after the presentation. Further, the session has been concluded with a vote of thanks to the users participated in the programme.
