S9 Students | Taking Urban Design Beyond the Studio
Our S9 students had the wonderful opportunity to present their Urban Design Studio study of Kottayam City and the Thirunakkara Maidanam precinct as part of the Social Outreach Programme of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), Kottayam Centre.
Through both an online presentation before an eminent panel of architects and urban designers and the “Thirunakkara Maidanam – An Urban Design Workshop”, our students engaged with practicing professionals and contributed their academic observations, ideas, and design perspectives to the ongoing conversation about the future of Kottayam’s civic spaces.
The workshop brought together architects, urban designers, students, and stakeholders for a collaborative exploration of Thirunakkara Maidanam, through discussions, participatory exercises, and design charrettes. This experience provided our students with a valuable platform to receive professional feedback, exchange ideas, and understand how academic urban design studies can contribute to real-world conversations and community-oriented design.
We are proud to see our S9 students learning beyond the classroom, engaging with the professional community, and contributing meaningfully to the urban discourse of Kottayam.
A memorable milestone in their Architecture journey!
