World Down Syndrome Day is observed every year on March 21, a date chosen to represent the uniqueness of the third copy of chromosome 21 that causes Down syndrome. It is a global day of awareness that celebrates the abilities, strengths, and contributions of individuals with Down syndrome while also advocating for their rights, inclusion, and dignity. The 2026 theme, “Together Against Loneliness,” highlights an important reality—many individuals with Down syndrome experience social isolation despite living in connected communities. This day reminds us that inclusion is not just about acceptance, but about meaningful relationships, opportunities, and a sense of belonging. By fostering understanding, kindness, and genuine connections, we can build a world where no one feels left out, and everyone is valued for who they are💛.
