Looking for a JRF candidate:

Semiconductor and Optoelectronics (SOL) group is looking for a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSED) at NIT Calicut. This position is available for up to 1 year. This position offers a unique opportunity to individuals looking to explore research on thinfim semiconductor materials and devices for phase change memory applications.

Please spread the above information to interested students, particularly those with Physics, Electronics, Materials Science, Mechanical or related background. The advertisement poster describing the JRF application instructions is attached herewith.

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology Calicut is organising a certificate course on " Advanced Characterization Techniques - Data acquisition and Data Analysis" from 17th October to 19 th October. The course is part of the upcoming international conference MEEHCON'24.
Course will have detailed lectures and Hands on training in SEM, XRD and Raman.

MSED family congratulates Ms. Gouri Hareesh, 1st Runner-up of the Nanotech Quiz. Gouri is a 5th semester student of BTech Materials Science and Engineering at NIT Calicut Nitcofficial. She will receive a prize money of Rs. 40,000.

The Nanotech Quiz, hosted by Bengaluru India Nano, fostered awareness about the captivating realm of Nanotechnology among students. This event is organised by the Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology, and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with Karnataka's Vision Group on Nanotechnology. Open to all undergraduate students across India, this quiz encouraged participants to stay updated with the latest developments in Nanotech.

Department of Materials Science and Engineering successfully completed the training of first batch of the one week certificate course providing hands on training in SEM. The course consisted of theory classes and hands on training in various imaging modes and spectroscopy in SEM. The first batch had participants from reputed national and international institutions.
Thought we received an overwhelming response for the advertisement,the number of participants were limited to 6 because of the extensive hands on training provided. The next session is planned during the month of August.

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, NIT Calicut, in collaboration with CeNS-Bengaluru, has organised a workshop on Nanotechnology “Nano Jatha '' on 29th June 2024 (Saturday) from 9am to 5 pm. The programme was aimed at undergraduate students from different fields of Science, Technology and Engineering. This one day programme consisted of special events comprising lectures by expert scientists in the field, video shows, interactive sessions with the audience and an exhibition that had several live demonstrations illustrating the world of nanoscience and technology. The participation was around 150.

Dr. Soney Varghese and Dr. Shyam Kumar were the organisers and Dr. Sajith V presented an expert lecture on "Industrial application of Nanotechnology" and Dr. Subash C K from CeNS delivered a talk on "Fundamentals of nanotechnology".

Department of Materials Science and Engineering is offering a one week certificate course in Scanning Electron Microscopy. The course includes hands on training on different imaging and spectroscopy modes in SEM, sample preparation for SEM and data analysis.
