Religious Congregation of Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross, a member institute to the registered society of Kerala. The Holy Cross Sisters Society was founded in Switzerland in 1856 by a young dynamic visionary - Fr. Theodosius Florentini OFM Cap, who was titled by the Swiss Government as teacher of the youth and a great philanthropist. Mother Maria Theresa Scherer, the co- foundress was a daring woman who had a total personal quality and service mentality to care for the poor and labor for the progress of the society. She is known as the "Mother of the poor". The motto of our congregation is "Need of the time is the will of God". The society has 987 establishments in 17 countries. The Holy Cross Society in India has been serving the citizens of our country since 1894 in the fields of sustainable developments. The areas of our service are: Social welfare: Social service, Social Work, Agricultural research- (KVK) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Health Care, Empowerment of Women, Hostels, Legal Aid Cells and Residence for Tribal Students. Education: College, Schools, Nursing College, Vocational Training etc. Works of Mercy: Orphanages, Homes for the Aged, AIDS Patients' Rehabilitation Centers. Residential education for mentally and physically challenged. Wherever the human need calls us we reach out immediately. This Holy Cross Educational Institute was established in 1995. At the initial stage only Diploma Courses were offered- Modern Secretarial Practice and Diploma in social work and counseling which were recognized by Govt. of India - MHRD. And in 2002 the institute of Hotel Management and Fashion Designing began with Diploma courses. In 2007-2008 Holy Cross Institute of Management and Technology obtained affiliation from the University of Calicut for the following courses - MSW, B.Sc. Hotel Management and Catering Science, B.Sc. Costume and Fashion Designing, and B.Com with Computer Application. In 2012-2013, we obtained affiliation from the University of Calicut and NOC from Government of Kerala for M.Sc Apparel Design and Technology, M.Com with Finance, BBA and BA English with Journalism.
