One-Day Workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Patent & Design Filing” Successfully Organized at the ICFAI University, Raipur
The ICFAI University, Raipur, through its Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Research and Development Cell, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a one-day workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Patent & Design Filing” in collaboration with GRNIIPM under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The keynote speaker for the program was Dr. Bharat N. Suryavanshi, Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
The session was graced by the presence of our esteemed Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Dayal Pandey and Registrar Dr.Archi Dube, whose addresses added depth to the occasion. He expressed gratitude to the keynote speaker and all the organizers, while highlighting the importance of IPR. He emphasized that every individual should be aware of IPR, as it is one of the key pillars of nation-building.
The workshop was conducted in two sessions by the keynote speaker, which included Fundamentals of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Overview of various forms of IPR such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs, and their significance in academia and industry, Legal Aspects and IPR Enforcement, Overview of infringement issues, legal remedies, licensing, and monetization of intellectual property, Practical Session / Case Studies and Hands-on exposure to patent search tools, basic drafting concepts, and discussion of real-life case studies.
Through these sessions, the workshop highlighted that IPR provides safe and sustainable growth opportunities for innovators and producers.
In the concluding session, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Yadav, Head of the Department, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, congratulated all the organizers and expressed his gratitude to the keynote speaker and participants. He noted that such workshops play a crucial role in helping students and researchers protect their intellectual property.
The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. Dilip Mishra, Dr. Nisha Thakur, Dr. Snehal Vairagade, Dr. Pinkey Chouhan, and other distinguished faculty members of the department.
