The 3rd Biennial conference of MADHABDEV UNIVERSITY TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION (MDUTA), 2026 saw the active participation of our faculty members from the department.
Dr. Pankaj Borah was part of the cultural committee that organzied the entire cultural program. He also participated in the Bhaona, playing the character of Karna. DrDronali Talukdar mesmerized the audience with her singing and later joined the ethnic fashion show. Dr. Nayan Moni Kumar too participation in the ethnic fashion show. Overall the department made its presence felt in the day long program of the prestigious MDUTA.

The department of Political Science organized a symposium on Assam Assembly Election 2026. The session was chaired by Parash Goswami, HoD, Associate Professor at the department of Political Science. The discussant were Ramesh Hazarika, HoD, Associate Professor, Dept. of Economics who emphasised on the question of developmentalism of BJP that was crucial in their election success. Dr. Swyakhyar Talukar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of History further gave a concrete analysis by highlighting the election 'mechanism' of BJP. He highlighted the role of BJP' welfare policies while emphasising on the larger discourse of developmentalism.
Dr. Bhaskar Doley, Associate Professor, Dept. of History spoke on the issue minority politics that was crucial in BJP's notebook. Further, Dr. Pankaj Borah, Associate Professor at the Dept of Political Science shed light on the importance of the ideology of Hindutva and how welfare schemes have played their part in BJP's electoral strategy. He also highlighted the discrepancy between the expected undercurrent and the actual results.

The overall discussion was very concrete in terms of the nature of analysis. The students participated immensely in the program and the session proved very fruitful, giving them a critical look into the concluded election in Assam.
