To provide a glimpse into the place where the constitution comes alive, the University Institute of Law, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, organised an educational visit to the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India for the students of BALLB 5th year and LLB 3rd Year. The visit was conducted under the vision of the Patron-in-Chief, Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Goyal (Officiating VC), and the able guidance and patronship of Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk (Director, PURC). Ms. Tamanna Kohli and Mr. Vishal supervised the visit.

The visit was academically enriching and provided great exposure to the students by witnessing the place where landmark judgements are written, shaping the course of our country. The students explored the halls of justice, the courtrooms, judge’s library and the National Museum, where they also had the chance to meet their alumnus Adv. Tushar Garg (AOR at the Supreme Court).

In a special interaction, renowned advocate and President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Dr. Pradeep Rai, enlightened the students, guiding them about principles of being good lawyers, and addressed their doubts regarding career prospects. They were also honoured to meet and be felicitated by the esteemed Adv. Dr. Adish Agarwala, Senior advocate, former SCBA PRESIDENT (23-24).

Khushbu Chadha, student of UIL, Panjab University, Ludhiana(3rd year) has brought laurels to the institution by securing the First position in the 1st Dexon Global Arbitral Award Writing Competition, 2026, organised by the Dexon Global Centre for Institutional Peacebuilding, ODR, Mediation and Arbitration Training (DIPLOMAT).
The competition was a distinctive legal simulation that required participants to step into the role of an arbitrator/arbitral tribunal and prepare a reasoned arbitral award under the SIAC Arbitration Rules, 2025, testing their legal reasoning, analytical ability, adjudicatory approach and precision in legal writing.

"An informed voter is the foundation of a strong democracy."

With this thought, the Election Literacy Cell of University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, organised a Voter Engagement Programme on 9 September 2026

in elections. The programme was organised with the objective of promoting electoral awareness and voter engagement among students and encouraging them to understand the importance of exercising their right to vote responsibly. The initiative aimed at sensitising young citizens about their role in the democratic process and encouraging active, informed and responsible participation

During the programme, students were encouraged to recognise the importance of their electoral rights and responsibilities and to actively participate in the democratic process. The initiative also scright to strengthen the spirit of electoral literacy among the youth and motivate students to spread awareness regarding responsible voting within their communities.

The programme was organised under the patron-in-chiefship of Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Goyal, Officiating Vice-Chancellor. Panjab University, Chandigarh, and the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virl, Director, PURC, Ludhiana. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Faculty Coordinators, Prof. (Dr.) Harmee. S Sandhu, Prof. (Dr.) Arti Puri, Adv Vandana Bhanot and Mrs. Isha Tiwari, where valuat le support contributed to the successful organisation of the initiative.

The event was further coordinated by the Student Coordinators, Suhani and Niranjan Kaur, who ensured the smooth executior of the programme and active student participation.

The Voter Engagerment Programme served as a meaningful initiative towards strengthening electoral awareness among the youth and reinforcing the idea that every eligible citizen has an important role in shaping a vibra, inclusive and representative democracy.

Through such initiatives, the Election Literacy Cell of UIL, PURC Ludhiana contims's to promote the pirit of responsible citizenship and encourage students to become aware, informed and active pericipants in the electoral process

The NSS Unit of the University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, successfully organised a Blood Donation Camp on 14th September 2026 at PURC, Ludhiana.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty and staff, who came forward with the spirit of service and compassion. The initiative highlighted the importance of blood donation and its role in saving lives.

The camp was organised under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Goyal, Officiating Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, and Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk, Director, PURC, Ludhiana, with Dr. Rajnish Saryal, NSS Programme Officer, faculty coordinators Mr. Baldev Singh and Dr. Renu Sharma, and student coordinators Pamelpreet Kaur, Dhruvak Garcha, Khushnoor, Mehtab Arora and Kohinoor Varjhawat.

To provide practical exposure to the functioning of the legal system and bridge the gap between theoretical study and real-world application, the University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC), Ludhiana, organized an educational visit to the District Courts, Ludhiana. The visit saw active participation from the students of B.A.LL.B. 3rd and 5th Semeste providing them with a valuable opportunity to witness live legal and judicial proceedings.

During the visit, the students had an enriching and insightful interaction with Dr. Rajneesh, District & Sessions Judge, and Advocate Deshraj Singh, who shared valuable insights into the operational working of the judiciary, the responsibilities of the bar and bench, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms. The students observed the live proceedings of the National Lok Adalat and visited various specialized forums, including the Labour Court, Consumer Court, and Family Court, gaining first-hand understanding of dispute resolution and practical application of legal concepts beyond classroom learning.

The educational visit was organized under the august aegis of the Patron-in-Chief, Prof. Meenakshi Goyal, Officiating Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Chandigarh, and under the visionary guidance of the Patron, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk, Director, PURC, Ludhiana. The initiative provided the students with meaningful practical knowledge and an enriching perspective on the Indian judicial administration.

The seamless ex*****on and success of the programme were made possible through the comprehensive arrangements coordinated by faculty members Ms. Tamanna Kohli and Mrs. Banveer Kaur Jhinger, alongside the commendable commitment and active coordination demonstrated by student coordinators Mayank Gupta and Khushi Kohli.

Priya Dhingra, an N.S.S. student of Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, attended a three days MyBharat Leadership Boot Camp, organised by Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports, Government of India, held from 19 August to 21 August 2026, at Skill Development Centre, PAU, Ludhiana, under the able guidance of Director Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk and NSS Coordinator Dr. Rajneesh Saryal.

She was one of the 35 participants in the camp. She learnt about leadership, financial and communication skills, along with overall personality development through very creative group activities. Yoga and Meditation session was also organised.

She also achieved The Best Answer Award in Youth Parliament on the topic of One Nation One Election, held on 20th August 2026.

Awareness Campaign on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) Organised by Election Literacy
Cell at UIL, PURC Ludhiana
“The right to vote is not just a privilege, but a powerful responsibility that shapes the
future of our democracy.”
With this thought, the Election Literacy Cell of University Institute of Laws, Panjab
University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, organised an Awareness Campaign on Special
Intensive Revision (SIR) on 20 August 2026
The campaign was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students
about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and encouraging young
citizens to understand the importance of maintaining accurate and updated electoral
records. The initiative sought to promote electoral literacy and sensitise students
towards their rights and responsibilities as informed citizens and future voters.
During the campaign, students were apprised of the significance of electoral roll revision
and the need to ensure that eligible citizens are appropriately enrolled in the electoral
process. The session also emphasised the importance of active and informed
participation in democracy. Through meaningful interaction and awareness activities, the
Election Literacy Cell encouraged students to become responsible participants in the
electoral process and spread awareness within their communities.
The programme was organised under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi
Goyal, Hon’ble vice-Chancellor (Officiating) Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Prof. (Dr.)
Ashish Virk. Director, PURC, Ludhiana. The campaign was coordinated under the

The University Institute of Laws (UIL), Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC), Ludhiana, successfully organised an enlightening guest lecture on "Insanity as a Defence in Criminal Law Section 22, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023" on 4 August, 2026.

The lecture was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Kumar Dogra. Director, University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Himachal Pradesh University, who shared his extensive expertise on one of the most significant general exceptions under criminal law. Through a comprehensive discussion, he explained the legal principles governing the defence of insanity, its statutory framework under Section 22 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and its practical application in criminal jurisprudence. The lecture was enriched with landmark judicial precedents, contemporary legal developments, and practical illustrations, enabling students to gain a deeper understanding of the subject.

The programme was organised under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Goyal, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor (Officiating). Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk, Director, PURC, Ludhiana.
