On September 26, 2024, the University Institute of Law at Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC), Ludhiana, hosted a Slogan Writing Competition with the theme "Swabhav Swachta, Sanskaar Swachta," focusing on the significance of cleanliness in both personal behavior and the environment. The event was held under the able guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Aman Amrit Cheema, Director of PURC, whose leadership was crucial to the initiative’s success.

The competition was coordinated by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Pooja Sikka, along with faculty members Mrs. Shalini Verma and Adv. Sunil Mittal, with support from student coordinators Jesus Goyal (Department Representative) and Jessica (BALLB 7th sem). Their combined efforts ensured the smooth ex*****on of the event, fostering active participation among the students.

The theme "Swabhav Swachta, Sanskaar Swachta" emphasized the need for both external cleanliness and ethical conduct, linking clean habits with a clean environment. Newly admitted students enthusiastically contributed creative and impactful slogans, reflecting their awareness of the importance of responsible and sustainable living.

The winners of the competition were Niranjan, who secured first place, Inderjeet Pal, who took second place and Survi got third position.

The NSS unit expressed its gratitude to all faculty, students, and staff for their support, making the event a success. This initiative highlights PURC’s ongoing commitment to fostering environmental awareness and encouraging students to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives.

University Institute of Laws, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana organised an 'Orientation Day' for the first year students of B.A. LLB and LLB on September 11, 2024 under able guidance of Director Prof. (Dr.) Aman Amrit Cheema.

The guest line-up featured honoured luminaries. Dr. Pradeep Rai (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India) through his personal anecdotes shared practical advice and ingenius blueprints of legal pathways students could venture into. Mr. Insaan (Judicial Magistrate First Class), a illustrious alumnus, went to great lengths to orient students with their curriculum, learning techniques as well as general truths of life through firsthand accounts and candid exchanges. Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Sachdeva (Adjucant Professor NALSAR, Hyderabad; Distinguished fellow, CAPS; Researcher in Air and Space law) in true academic flaire, encompassed all elements, commencing from core understanding of the term 'law' to novel insights into niche topics under International Law and emerging topics like laws regulating technology. Additionally, the address by Director Prof. (Dr.) Aman Amrit Cheema welcomed and familiarized students with the innumerable opportunities available at UIL and the institute's commitment to ensuring excellence in the process of learning.

Students also received detailed brochures cm notebooks to offer a supportive hand to navigate this new uncharted world, containing detailed information regarding the faculty, infrastructure and committees within reach.

The event was made successful by the relentless efforts of Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Virk, Dr. Nisha Jindal accompanied by student coordinators Ankur Taya (Managing Editor), Divseerat Kaur (Deputy Editor) and the collective contributions of the Publication Bureau. The event, in its essence, was very insightful and a beautiful reminder that the grass is greener where you water it.

In a heartwarming tribute to the mentors shaping futures at Panjab University Regional Centre (PURC) in Ludhiana, Teacher's Day was celebrated with great
fervor and reverence under the guidance of the institute's Director, Prof. (Dr.) Aman Amrit Cheema. The event, held on 5th September 2024, brought together faculty, staff, and students to honour the
invaluable contributions of teachers in nurturing young minds and guiding academic excellence. Cultural program followed, showcasing the artistic talents of students who presented heartfelt
performances including poems,dance dedicated to their beloved teachers.
Students also dedicated honorary titles to all the faculty members, for their exceptional contributions to academia and their students' success. This Program was organised under the leadership of Cultural coordinator Dr. Vaishali Thakur, and Faculty Coordinators Mrs. Shalini Verma and Mr. Baldev Singh. Furthermore Siddharth Dhiman and Kashish Chauhan
were the student coordinators for the same.

Pulwama attack is extremely sad. We stand with families of martyrs of CRPF jawans and express our deepest condolences.
We understand that writing such lines of condolences, or being emotional for this moment, offering cheques by Govt side or crying for more bloodshed through TV screens and political statements are actually not the solution of the cause to not let it happen again. Neither the more military deployment. In fact, if Govt really desire to give a befitting reply to this cowardly attack. It must start working to a lasting solution. This would be the search of long lasting peace in the region, resolving political disputes, being in dialogues diplomacy and other lobbying, taking local people in confidence and most importantly, preparing the roadmap to peace while being isolated from what TV or social media or vote patterns are demanding.
Our salute to brave soldiers and we believe that we would be able to save lives of soldiers in future through eliminating terrorism and through a stable peace in the region.
