University Business School (UBS), Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana was started in 2007 by Panjab University, Chandigarh to bring high quality management education to the city of Ludhiana, the industrial hub of Punjab. Within a short span of seven years, UBS Ludhiana has carved a niche for itself through its focus on academic excellence that has been reflected in its excellent placements. UBS Ludhiana has now been successfully positioned as a Centre of Excellence in Business and Management Sciences. The School offers Masters of Business Administration- MBA (Two Years Full Time Program) in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource and Operations. We focus on developing amongst our students a sense of commitment along with emphasis on ethics while imparting management knowledge and developing managerial skills through extensive industry interface. Strengthening Industry Awareness on Customs Facilitation & Import Compliance

University Business School (UBS), Ludhiana, in association with the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), organised an insightful outreach session on the ‘Eligible Manufacturer Importer (EMI) Scheme’ of the Government of India on 25 September 2026.

The session was conducted by:

🔹 Dr. (Smt.) Kavita Bhatnagar, IRS
Principal Commissioner, Directorate of International Customs, CBIC, Government of India

🔹 Shri Ishendra Kashyap, IRS
Joint Commissioner, Directorate of International Customs, CBIC, Government of India

The session provided manufacturer-importers and students with practical insights into the EMI Scheme, including:

• Eligibility criteria and conditions
• Application and enrolment process
• Benefits available under the EMI Scheme
• Deferred payment of Customs Duty
• Faster import clearance
• Compliance requirements and practical aspects
• Relevance for standard manufacturers and job-work models

The interaction offered industry participants and students an opportunity to understand Customs facilitation, import procedures and compliance requirements directly from senior officers of CBIC.

The outreach programme was facilitated by Mr. Vinay Sharma, Deputy Director, FIEO, whose coordination contributed to bringing industry stakeholders and academic participants together for this knowledge-sharing session.

Such industry–academia–government engagements contribute to creating greater awareness of evolving trade facilitation mechanisms and help bridge the gap between policy provisions and their practical application.

University Business School, Panjab University Regional Centre, Ludhiana, hosted an insightful and interactive podcast session featuring Mr. Kanu Aggarwal, Former HR Head, Tata Steel, Ludhiana, on the theme “Campus to Corporate.”

Drawing on his extensive corporate experience, Mr. Aggarwal engaged students in an enriching discussion on the transition from campus to the corporate workplace, professional expectations, workplace behaviour, leadership, communication, and the competencies essential for building successful careers.

The session provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world corporate practices and gain practical insights into navigating their professional journey from Campus to Corporate.
