University of Calicut University of Calicut has emerged as the largest residential cm affiliating University of Kerala.

Founded in 1968, the University of Calicut is northern Kerala’s first and one of its largest universities, with 400+ affiliated colleges and vast student reach, excelling in academics, research, and cultural development across diverse disciplines in India University of Calicut was founded in 1968 with the objective of extending avenues of higher education and purposeful academic research to a wide

r section of the society to who it has been hitherto inaccessible. Providing particular emphasis on technology, art and culture of Kerala and the great Indian philosophy of education, all round uplift of the downtrodden mass by liberating them through education has been the declared aim behind the establishment. The beginning of the University was by taking into its fold the four postgraduate departments set up by the University of Kerala at Calicut and 54 constituent colleges spread across seven northern districts. The Upanishad mantra ‘Nirmaya Karmana Sree’, which means prosperity throiugh austere actions, was selected as its tagline, rather the sole motto upon which it’s founded. It has 31 post graduate departments and 374 affiliated colleges now. It is real beacon of erudition and higher learning; it’s the Alma Matre to many a great scholars and technocrats, artists and artisans, physicians and scientist, educationists and entrepreneurs.
