Desh Bhagat University, Mandi Gobindgarh came into existence as a State Private University under Punjab Govt. Act, 2012. It has evolved from Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes which was established in 1996 near Mandi Gobindgarh, a well-known industrial town of Punjab, and had its campuses at Mandi Gobindgarh, Muktsar, Moga, Chandigarh and Kenya. 🌍 Celebrating World Tourism Day 2026 through the Flavours of India🇮🇳
The School of Hotel Management & Tourism (SOHMT), Desh Bhagat University, celebrated World Tourism Day 2026 with a vibrant Food Carnival, “Gali Se Galley Tak,”.
The event showcased India’s rich culinary heritage through traditional street foods, regional delicacies, innovative fusion dishes, and refreshing beverages. The carnival provided students with valuable hands-on experience in culinary creativity, event management, entrepreneurship, customer service, marketing, and hospitality operations.
Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, and Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, visited the carnival, tasted the delicious creations prepared by the students, and appreciated the initiative for promoting student-centric and experiential learning.

Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Punjab, has signed a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with A Punjab Regeneration Knowledge Platform to promote joint research, innovation, experiential learning, knowledge exchange and sustainable development initiatives across Punjab.
The MoU was signed by Sumeet Sandhu, representing A Punjab Regeneration Knowledge Platform, and Dr. Zora Singh, Hon’ble Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, in the presence of Dr. Tulika Mehta, CEO, DBU.
🔹 Joint research and knowledge exchange
🔹 Student internships and field-based learning
🔹 Faculty engagement and capacity building
🔹 Innovation and community-oriented initiatives
🔹 Workshops, seminars and training programmes
A key focus of the collaboration will be the “Jeevit Mitti Mission”, envisioned as a Living Research Laboratory for exploring regenerative approaches to soil health, agriculture, biodiversity, ecological restoration and sustainable livelihoods.
The partnership will provide students, researchers and faculty with opportunities to work on practical challenges and develop locally relevant solutions by connecting academic knowledge with field-level action and community participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Zora Singh highlighted the importance of collaborative platforms that bring together academia, practitioners and communities to address emerging environmental and sustainability challenges.
