From Classroom to Community: Abhilashi University Students’ Health Outreach Initiative
Students from the B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program at Abhilashi University embarked on a significant field visit to the underserved slum areas of Sundernagar and Dador. The visit was organized under the guidance of Dr. Aakriti Guleria, Program Coordinator, and Mrs. Durga Sharma, Assistant Professor (English), Department of Humanities.
This impactful outreach initiative was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world healthcare challenges. By engaging directly with residents in these communities, the students gained firsthand insight into the living conditions and health issues faced by marginalized populations. During their visit, the students conducted essential health screenings, including blood pressure monitoring, hemoglobin estimation, and blood sugar testing. They also distributed educational materials and raised awareness on key health topics such as hygiene, nutrition, the prevention of waterborne diseases, and the importance of regular medical check-ups.
Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. R. K. Abhilashi, expressed pride in the students' efforts, stating, “Community-oriented learning experiences like these are crucial in shaping our students into socially responsible healthcare professionals. It was inspiring to witness their compassionate and professional engagement with the residents.”
Echoing this sentiment, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Dr. L. K. Abhilashi emphasized the broader significance of the initiative, saying, “This field visit is a testament to Abhilashi University’s commitment to providing holistic education that transcends the classroom. The students’ actions brought not just awareness, but tangible support and hope to those in need.”
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Abhilashi University, Prof. H.K. Chaudhary, also lauded the efforts of both the students and faculty. He remarked, “This initiative reflects the university’s dedication to creating not only skilled professionals but compassionate citizens who are aware of the social issues that surround them. By actively participating in community service, our students have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of healthcare in improving lives.”
Dr. Kapil Kapoor also extended heartfelt congratulations to both the faculty and students of the B.Sc. MLT program for the success of this community outreach, reinforcing the university’s mission of education rooted in empathy, service and action.

Caring for Animals, Shaping the Future: World Veterinary Day at Abhilashi University
The School of Veterinary Sciences, Abhilashi University celebrated World Veterinary Day with immense enthusiasm and academic zeal, highlighting the essential role veterinarians play in advancing animal health, safeguarding public health & promoting sustainable development. The event served as a testament to the profound impact of veterinary science on society, animal welfare & ecological balance.
The occasion was graced by several esteemed guests, including Mahant Abhishek Giri Ji Maharaj, Prof. H.K. Chaudhary, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. Promila, Vice Chairperson (AES), Dr. Kapil Kapoor, Registrar, Dr. R.K. Asrani, Dean School of Veterinary Sciences, alongside Deans, Directors, Coordinators, Heads of Departments & respected faculty members. The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished professionals, Dr. Naresh (SVO, Gohar) and Dr. Abhimanyu Sharma (VO), whose participation greatly contributed to the event's success.
Dr. R.K. Asrani, Dean of the School, delivered a warm welcome and shared a brief overview of the veterinary camp conducted the previous day in Chachyot Panchayat. The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers, with around 180 animals treated and important information on animal health and welfare disseminated to the community.
The Guest of Honour, Mahant Abhishek Giri Maharaj Ji, delivered a compelling speech on the significance of conserving indigenous animal breeds. He highlighted the need for a lifestyle in harmony with nature and commended the university for its unwavering commitment to providing professional education and services to farmers in the region, thus playing a vital role in advancing rural livelihoods.
Dr. Naresh (SVO, Gohar) shared his firsthand experiences of working in the field, emphasizing the importance of professional veterinary education in the region. He underlined how this degree course is critical for addressing the challenges of livestock care and welfare, particularly in the Mahro region, where agriculture and animal husbandry are central to the local economy.
In his address, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof. H.K. Chaudhary emphasized the crucial role veterinary sciences play in society, detailing its far-reaching effects on animal welfare, public health & rural livelihoods. He stressed that Abhilashi University remains committed to providing top-tier education and resources to ensure the highest standards of veterinary care. Prof. Chaudhary also reaffirmed the university's dedication to offering state-of-the-art facilities and continuous professional development for aspiring veterinarians, preparing them for the evolving challenges of the profession.

To enrich the educational value of the day, the dignitaries also unveiled informative brochures that provided comprehensive details on livestock management, disease prevention & vaccination schedules, offering valuable resources to the farming community.

Boosting Rural Livestock Health: Abhilashi University Hosts Veterinary Camp
The School of Veterinary Sciences, Abhilashi University successfully organized a comprehensive veterinary camp in Chachyot Panchayat, Mandi. Through this initiative, quality animal healthcare services were delivered directly to rural livestock farmers. The primary objective of the camp was to provide essential veterinary services to farmers in the region and to strengthen the spirit of social service in veterinary science.
During the camp, experienced veterinarians from the university offered extensive clinical services in the fields of veterinary medicine, veterinary gynecology, and veterinary surgery. Approximately 180 animals—including cattle, sheep, goats, and horses—were treated. Cases related to common diseases, reproductive issues, parasitic infections, and minor surgical procedures were successfully addressed. Blood samples were also collected on-site for laboratory testing, and deworming along with general health check-ups were conducted to improve the overall health of the animals. All treatments and medicines were provided free of cost to the beneficiaries.
Informative pamphlets covering important aspects of animal husbandry were distributed among farmers. Additionally, an interactive awareness session was conducted, where Dr. Shivangi Singh (Assistant Professor, Animal Nutrition) actively engaged with farmers and provided detailed information on scientific feeding management, balanced nutrition, and ways to enhance livestock productivity.
Dr. R. K. Asrani (Dean, School of Veterinary Sciences) informed the participants about the modern facilities available at the Veterinary Clinical Complex of Abhilashi University. These include X-ray and ultrasound imaging systems, well-equipped operation theatres for both large and small animals, and advanced laboratory diagnostic facilities with various analyzers for hematological and biochemical analysis.
On this occasion, the Vice-Chancellor of Abhilashi University, Professor H.K. Chaudhary, commended the School of Veterinary Sciences for successfully organizing the camp in Chachyot village. He also acknowledged and thanked the university management for establishing a state-of-the-art veterinary facility equipped with ultra-modern equipment in the region. Highlighting its significance, he noted that these advanced resources are not only enhancing practical learning for students but also serving the wider community. He encouraged local residents to visit the university and make full use of the available facilities and the expertise of its professionals.

Local livestock farmers, too, appreciated the initiative, emphasizing that such camps play a crucial role in improving the health and productivity of livestock in rural areas.
The camp was coordinated by Dr. Ajay Patial (Coordinator, Veterinary Clinical Camps), with active participation from Dr. Peer Rais Aziz (Assistant Professor, Veterinary Medicine), Dr. Jagbir Singh (Assistant Professor, Veterinary Medicine), Dr. Deepika Thakur (Assistant Professor, Veterinary Gynecology), and Dr. Raksha Devi (Assistant Professor, Veterinary Surgery).

MLT Students of Abhilashi University Visit Sahyog Special School, Lunapani
Recently final-year students of B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) from Abhilashi University visited Sahyog – School for Special Children at Lunapani, Mandi (H.P.). The visit was organized under the guidance of Dr. Aakriti Guleria, along with Mrs. Durga Sharma from the Department of Humanities, and with the support of Principal Incharge Mrs. Geeta Sharma.
The primary aim of the visit was to offer students practical exposure to special and geriatric care while fostering empathy and a sense of social responsibility. During their time at the school, students engaged warmly with the children through games, music, and interactive activities, creating a vibrant and joyful environment filled with smiles and laughter.
Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. R. K. Abhilashi appreciated the initiative, noting that such experiences are vital in shaping compassionate healthcare professionals. Hon’ble Pro Chancellor Dr. L. K. Abhilashi emphasized that compassion and kindness are as important as academic excellence in the healthcare field.
Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. H. K. Chaudhary remarked that exposure to community-based experiences is crucial for developing a humane approach among students. He emphasized that such visits not only enhance practical understanding but also instill values of empathy, patience, and service—qualities indispensable in the medical profession. Registrar Dr. Kapil Kapoor also congratulated the students and faculty for their meaningful and socially impactful initiative.

Abhilashi Physiotherapy Students Shine at AIIMS National Conference 2026

Four students from the School of Physiotherapy achieved a proud milestone by presenting their research papers at the National Conference on Advanced Healthcare & Rehabilitation held at AIIMS New Delhi on April 11–12, 2026—showcasing the institution’s growing strength in academic excellence and research.

Guided by Dr. Archana Bharti and Dr. Nikita B. Morwal, along with final-year and third-year students, the delegation actively participated in insightful academic discussions. The experience was further enriched through an inspiring interaction with Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Senior Physiotherapist at AIIMS New Delhi and President, National Executive Board, Global Association for Physiotherapy.

Centered around the theme “Redefining Multidisciplinary Care: Evidence-Based Approaches for Advanced Healthcare & Rehabilitation,” the conference offered exposure to cutting-edge advancements in physiotherapy. Students explored innovative AI-driven technologies, including the ExoAtlet exoskeleton for managing conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Stroke, and Parkinson’s disease along with advanced rehabilitation tools and gait training systems.
