🇮🇳“Start Today”: NITK Director Inspires Campus to Lead National Transformation
The National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, joined the nation in celebrating the 79th Independence Day, with the theme “Naya Bharat.” The Officer-Commanding Lt. Col. Nikhil Khullar, Captain Dr. P. Sam Johnson, and Captain Dr. H. Shivanandha Nayaka received the Director, Prof. B. Ravi, who inspected the contingents of NCC Cadets and unfurled the National Flag. This was followed by a parade by NCC cadets, Kannada Medium School children, and the security unit, who displayed their patriotism and discipline. Outstanding NCC cadets and staff were felicitated by the director for their contributions. The event also featured patriotic speeches and songs recited by faculty, staff, and students.
In his address, the Director Prof. B. Ravi reflected on India’s journey since independence. Drawing from a personal encounter with a freedom fighter, he highlighted the generational shift from political freedom to economic freedom, and now toward intellectual and cultural self-respect. He cited recent developments such as the lotus pond and NITKere, along with policy reforms for accelerating institutional growth. He urged the NITK community to initiate projects that contribute to a smart, sustainable, swachh, swasth, suraksh*t, and samruddh campus. “Let us together transform the campus into a living lab for testing innovative solutions. Let us not wait. Start today,” he urged.
Prof. Subhash Yaragal, Deputy Director, various functionaries, students, staff and family members attended the Independence Day function with great enthusiasm. As per the Ministry of Education directives, the Institute also participated in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, proudly displaying the National Flag across campus zones.📍✨
