Serve to Lead
The National Service Scheme (NSS) organized a one-day leadership training program titled "Serve to Lead" in association with Directorate of Students Welfare and Directorate of Entrepreneurship on 29th March 2025 at CASM Seminar Hall. This training aimed to empower NSS volunteers with essential leadership skills, fostering a sense of responsibility and service towards society. The event saw enthusiastic participation from volunteers, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
The program commenced with a formal inauguration. Dr. Prasoon S, NSS Programme Officer, delivered the welcome address. He extended a warm welcome to all dignitaries, resource persons, and participants. In his speech, he outlined the objectives of the training program and stressed the importance of leadership training in shaping socially responsible individuals. The formal Inauguration was done by Dr. S. Sangaralingam, Special Officer, who highlighted the crucial role of NSS volunteers in nation-building. In his speech, he emphasized that true leadership is rooted in service and selflessness. He encouraged the volunteers to actively contribute to community welfare while developing their own leadership potential. The inauguration was followed by a felicitation ceremony where Dr. Stella Cyriac congratulated the volunteers for their active participation. She acknowledged the efforts of the NSS team in organizing such a meaningful program and encouraged the volunteers to apply their learning in real-world scenarios. The core session of the training was conducted by Dr. Santhosh Vallikkat, Assistant Professor, NSS College Manjeri, who served as the resource person. His session was both engaging and insightful, focusing on various aspects of leadership, including: defining leadership in the context of service and social responsibility, the importance of teamwork and collective effort in community service, training volunteers on how to handle challenges efficiently and encouraging volunteers to stay committed to their roles despite challenges. Dr. Santhosh Vallikkat incorporated interactive activities, real-life examples, and discussions to make the session more impactful. He emphasized that leadership is not about authority but about inspiring and guiding others toward a common goal. His talk resonated deeply with the volunteers, instilling a sense of purpose and direction. As the program reached its conclusion, Ms. Aparnadas delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, dignitaries, and organizing committee for their valuable contributions. She also appreciated the enthusiasm and cooperation of the NSS volunteers, which made the event a grand success. The "Serve to Lead" training session proved to be an enriching experience for all participants. Volunteers gained valuable insights into leadership principles and service-oriented decision-making. The interactive nature of the session ensured active engagement, leaving a lasting impression on the attendees. This training has undoubtedly equipped NSS volunteers with the necessary skills and motivation to take on leadership roles in their future community service endeavours. The event successfully reinforced the NSS motto, "Not Me, But You," instilling a strong sense of social responsibility in every participant.
