The University Grants Commission (UGC) has established regulations for preventing ragging in higher education institutions and has introduced several initiatives to create awareness and ensure effective prevention. In connection with Anti-Ragging Day on August 12 and 13 and Anti-Ragging Week observed from August 12 to 18, the UGC, along with the Centre for Youth (C4Y) and the UGC National Anti-Ragging Monitoring Agency, has planned a range of awareness-oriented activities.
As part of this programme, students of the B.Tech. Dairy Technology programme at Mansinhbhai Institute of Dairy & Food Technology (MIDFT) enthusiastically took part in various awareness activities. These comprised poster-making and slogan-writing competitions, rangoli, an awareness speech, and a stage play portraying the negative impact of ragging and emphasizing the need for a safe and supportive campus atmosphere. Students also viewed short films and anti-ragging awareness videos designed to sensitize them about the consequences of ragging and promote a culture of respect and inclusivity. Through their active involvement, MIDFT students supported efforts to foster a safe, inclusive, and ragging-free environment within higher education institutions.

A two-day Millet Festival was being held in Mehsana (Gujarat) on 21st –22nd March 2026 to promote ‘Shree Anna’ (Millets) and support farmers. The Millet Mahotsav aims to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets, support natural farming practices, and strengthen the link between farmers and consumers while improving farmers’ income.

In this Expo, one stall was set up by DudhSagar Dairy in order to create awareness and directly sell organic millets as well as millet-based products to consumers. From MIDFT, our B.Tech (DT) students also participated enthusiastically in the event and showcased millet based products developed by them on both the days.

The Boot Camp on “Innovate with Science: Learn by Doing” was organized on 17th -18th March 2026 with the objective of sensitizing for class 5th – 8th students of Sankalp Public School, Mehsana. The camp aimed to highlight the need for innovation and showcase advancements across various fields of science. A total of 48 students actively participated in the two-day programme. The boot camp featured a range of engaging activities including expert sessions and hands-on training focused on scientific innovations. On Friday, 13th March 2026, Innovation cell of Mansinhbhai Institute of Dairy & Food Technology (MIDFT), Mehsana, organized a one-day “Food Product Innovation Contest (FPIC)” under the Students Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP 2.0). The event was held from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM and witnessed enthusiastic gathering of more than 200 students, faculty mentors and DudhSagar dairy officials. There was a presence of more than 115 students who participated in the event from various institutes across Gujarat.
