The South Campus (Barkachha) acquired by Banaras Hindu University, on lease in perpetuity from Bharat Mandal Trust in April 1979 with an area of 1104 ha, is situated about 8 km South West of Mirzapur town on Robertsganj high way (map). d technology to the population of neighborhood. Shrimali, the then Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, who in his address assured the people of Mirzapur, to develop this as a Centre for transfer of knowledge and technology from Laboratory to Land as the Mahamana's University assumes the responsibility of a co-partner in the various schemes of development of under privileged and tribal people of the region. Later Vice Chancellor, Prof. Y.C. Shimhadri, taking cognizance of the neglect of the unfulfilled promise, took the challenge to develop the Barkachha farm in the year 1999. A task force was formulated and an ambitious draft plan was prepared

Prof. Panjab Singh, Vice Chancellor of BHU, immediately after his joining the University, took a serious note of the issues/problems pertaining to Barkachha and also the past efforts and within a fortnight, called the first meeting on 20.05.2005 and constituted a Core Committee to initially analyze and identify priority areas for this farm. He took the Barkachha issue as a "Centennial Challenge 2005-15" and proposed that a vision document, taking the earlier document details as reference, be prepared for phased development of the new South Campus to serve as a torch bearer for this region and meet the long cherished desire of Pt. Madan Mohan Malviya ji.

Almost all the English medium schools in the country discourage the students from participating in their traditional festivals like Holi etc. They are also forbidden from wearing bangles, mehandi etc etc and are punished if they don't comply.

Yesterday, two girls from Bangalore were punished for having played holi the previous day. They felt so insulted and humiliated thereby that they committed su***de by drowning themselves in Sanky Tank here.

Principal, class teacher and the concerned school authorities must be immediately booked and arrested for abetting su***de/murders and precedent must be set for all others deterring them from resorting to such actions.

It is a matter of shame for we Indians that despite lapse of more than 66 years, we are still not independent of British mentality and thoughts and now, though the outside world love and follow our rich culture and traditions, we are still mentally slaves.

Education department must immediately issue notification to all the schools all over the country warning them against such actions and thoughts.

तरक्की के लिए एकजुटता जरूरी
मीरजापुर : देश में व्यक्तिगत
महानता की कमी नहीं है लेकिन मिलकर काम करने
की कमी रही है। मानवीय मूल्यों का क्षरण
हो रहा है। समाज बंटता नजर आ रहा है। देश
की तरक्की के लिए एकजुटता की जरूरत है।
यह बातें काशी हिंदू विश्वविद्यालय के
कुलाधिपति डॉ. कर्ण सिंह ने कही। वह शनिवार
को राजीव गांधी दक्षिणी परिसर में नवनिर्मित
क्रीड़ा संकुल के लोकार्पण समारोह को संबोधित
कर रहे थे। उन्होंने कहा कि जब तक समाज
एकजुट नहीं होगा तब तक देश तरक्की नहीं कर
सकता। इतिहास का जिक्र करते हुए उन्होंने
कहा कि भगवान राम ने भी देश में अमन-चैन के
लिए आदिवासियों की सेना बनाई थी। वे चाहते
तो अकेले भी युद्ध कर सकते थे लेकिन उन्होंने
ऐसा नहीं किया। आदिवासियों के सहारे उन्होंने
कार्य पूर्ण किया। कहा कि सरकार बनाना,
गिराना यह सब प्रजातंत्र का खेल है लेकिन जब
बात देश की संप्रभुता की आए तो हम
सबको मिलकर प्रयास करना होगा। उन्होंने
कहा कि मानवीय मूल्यों की रक्षा का संकल्प
लेकर ही हम सब उत्तम चरित्र का निर्माण कर
सकते हैं। क्रीड़ा संकुल का निर्माण भी शिक्षक
एवं छात्रों के विकास के लिए किया गया है।
इसका सदुपयोग करना होगा। शरीर
यदि स्वस्थ्य रहेगा तभी हम धर्म, कर्म कर
सकते हैं। हमें सबसे पहले अपने शरीर पर ध्यान
देना होगा।
श्री सिंह ने कहा कि यह कैंपस मेन कैंपस
का पूरक है। यहां पर वे तीसरी बार आए हैं।
कैंपस में बहुत कुछ विकास हो चुका है।
यहां का विकास एवं छात्रों के उत्साह देख उन्हें
अपार हर्ष हो रहा है। आगे भी विकास कार्य
जारी रहेगा। वहीं कुलपति पद्मश्री डॉ.
लालजी सिंह ने कहा कि जिन मूल्यों का आधार
लेकर पंडित मदन मोहन मालवीय ने बीएचयू
की नींव डाली थी उन मूल्यों का ध्यान
देना होगा। आज मानवीय मूल्यों का हनन
हो रहा है। यहां पर अध्ययनरत छात्रों के चरित्र
निर्माण पर विशेष ध्यान देना होगा। इस कार्य
में शिक्षकों की भूमिका अहम है। उन्होंने
कहा कि जुलाई से वैटेनरी साइसेंस की कक्षाएं
चलेंगी। इसके लिए मंजूरी मिल गई है। अगले सत्र
से कैंपस में मेडिशनल प्लांट भी लगेगा। उन्होंने
कहा कि कैंपस में पानी की कमी नहीं है। विकास
कार्य जारी है। रजिस्ट्रार प्रोफेसर जीएस
यादव ने कहा कि साउथ कैंपस विश्वविद्यालय
की श्रेणी में आ चुका है बस हक मिलना बाकी है।
क्रोर ग्रुप चेयरमैन प्रोफेसर रवि प्रताप सिंह ने
आए हुए अतिथियों का स्वागत किया।
ओएसडी प्रोफेसर आरपी सिंह ने साउथ कैंपस में
चल रहे कार्यक्रमों की जानकारी दी। इसके पूर्व
कुलाधिपति ने दीप प्रज्ज्वलित कर कार्यक्रम
का शुभारंभ किया। उन्होंने फीता काटकर
क्रीड़ा संकुल का लोकार्पण भी किया। इस
दौरान प्रोफेसर गुरु प्रसाद सिंह, प्रोफेसर
एसपी सिंह, प्रोफेसर दृगविंदु सिंह, डॉ. श्रीराम
सिंह सहित कैंपस प्रोफेसर, छात्र व अन्य लोग
मौजूद थे।
