Indian Architects’ Day celebrates the ideas, experiments and spaces that shaped the course of modern Indian architecture. It is a reflection on a generation of architects who looked beyond imitation, drawing inspiration from India’s climate, culture, materials, traditions and everyday life. Their work transformed brick, concrete, stone, light and landscape into architecture that was both deeply rooted and boldly contemporary. From powerful geometries and expressive structures to intimate courtyards, shaded spaces and human-scaled details, their buildings continue to influence how we understand place and identity. This day celebrates not just the buildings, but the ideas, sketches, materials and stories behind them—the foundations of modern India.
