The BITS Pilani Mumbai Campus marked the 77th Republic Day of India with a campus-wide celebration that brought together the communities of , , and in a shared expression of unity, pride, and commitment to the constitutional values that shape the nation.
The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by Prof. (Dr.) Vishwas H. Devaiah, Acting Dean and Professor of Law, BITS Law School, symbolising India’s democratic sovereignty and constitutional legacy. He was accompanied by Col. Ashok Dogra, Head - Admin & Facilities, and Mr. Mayank Akole, Deputy Registrar, BITS Pilani Mumbai Campus, marking the ceremonial opening of the programme.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. (Dr.) Vishwas H. Devaiah remarked, “The journey of the Constituent Assembly in crafting a ‘living Constitution’ amidst immense challenges stands as a testament to unity beyond caste, religion, language, and region. The resilience of India’s democracy calls upon educational institutions to play a vital role in nurturing a mature and participatory democratic culture.”
The programme was further enriched by cultural performances by students, celebrating India’s diverse heritage through music, movement, and storytelling. The performances reflected the spirit of patriotism, unity in diversity, and the vibrancy of India’s democratic ethos.
The ceremony also featured a solemn reading of the Preamble to the Constitution of India by Lt. Col. Jitender Kumar (Veteran), Head of Security, BITS Pilani Mumbai Campus, reinforcing the core values of Sovereignty, Socialism, Secularism, Democracy, Justice, Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity that guide the Republic.
The celebration concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, inspiring the campus community to embody the values of the Constitution through learning, dialogue, and action.
