MET Institute of Computer Science MET Institute of Computer Science of Maharashtra. At MET ICS, we strongly believe that the whole world is an IT professional's work place.

MET ICS was established in 2001 in order to create a professional and innovative learning environment that focuses on creating IT professionals that effectively blend technology and management. The Institute conducts the three-year, full-time Master of Computer Application (MCA) affiliated to the University of Mumbai and the two year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (e-Business) approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and recognised by Govt. Precisely, in the midst of a well-stocked library, a highly equipped computer laboratories with top-of-the-line hardware and software, and through interactive sessions with dedicated faculty who are experts in their own fields of specialisation, students are not just technically nurtured but also professionally groomed.

As part of AARAMBH 2026 - The Induction Programme for MCA 2026-28 batch, The Panel Discussion "From Classroom to Corporate: Preparing for the Technology Industry" was coordinated by Ms. Pooja Potdar, Training & Placement Officer - Corporate Relations, MET and brought together MET MCA Alumni from diverse tech industry backgrounds to speak on the current state of the IT industry and how students can bridge the gap between academics and the workplace.

The panel of alumni included Mr. Akshay Gaikwad, Member of Technical Staff 2, Nielsen; Ms. Mrunmayi Shinde, Technical Account Manager, CleverTap; Mr. Sahil Darwajkar, Deputy Vice President, Edme Insurance Brokers; Ms. Gauravi Karekar, Senior Principal Engineer, Marsh & McLennan Companies; Mr. Shyam Bhavsar, Senior Software Engineer Specialist; Mr. Jamshed Irani, Head - ERP & Networking, MET; each bringing perspectives from their respective organizations and roles.

The Panelists spoke about the practical competencies employers look for beyond academic curriculum including hands-on technical skills, adaptability, communication, and problem-solving ability and shared guidance on how students can proactively prepare themselves during their course of study to make a smoother transition into the workforce. The session gave students a multi-perspective view of industry realities directly from professionals currently working across different tech domains. The discussion reinforced the induction's broader theme of readying students for their careers ahead.

MET Institute of Computer Science began Day 2 of AARAMBH 2026 - The Induction Programme for MCA 2026-28 batch with Dr. Jyotsna Munshi, Director - Corporate Relations, MET, giving students a Placement Overview covering how the placement department supports the academics-to-industry transition.

This was followed by a Student Experiences Session, where MCA seniors shared first-hand accounts of academics, campus life, and placements, offering the new batch students relatable insight and easing their entry into college life.

The session concluded with a guest talk on "Current IT Industry Trends and Scenarios" by Mr. Shyam Bhavsar, Senior Software Engineer Specialist at Nasdaq, who shared an industry perspective on in-demand skills and where the IT sector is headed — setting the stage for the panel discussion that followed.

The session of AARAMBH 2026 - The Induction Programme for MCA 2026-28 batch at MET Institute of Computer Science, brought a shift from inspiring addresses to interactive and engaging activities designed to help the newcomers settle into their new academic home.

The session began with the felicitation of academic toppers, recognizing students who had demonstrated outstanding performance and dedication in their previous academic pursuits. This moment celebrated excellence and set a benchmark of aspiration for the incoming batch, encouraging them to strive for similar distinction during their MCA journey.

This was followed by the faculty introduction, where the newcomers got the opportunity to meet and interact with the professors and staff who would guide them over the next two years. Each faculty member shared a brief note about their areas of expertise and teaching philosophy, helping to break the ice and build a sense of familiarity and comfort among the students.

The session concluded on a creative and reflective note with the Reflection Wall activity, where students were invited to pen down their thoughts, expectations, and aspirations for their MCA journey. As part of AARAMBH 2026 - The Induction Programme for MCA 2026-28 Batch, MET Institute of Computer Science welcomed two of its distinguished alumni, whose journeys served as powerful testimonials to the value of the MCA programme.

Mr. Rohan Upadhyay, Director at SS&C GlobeOp, took the newcomers through his personal journey — from being an MCA student at MET ICS to rising to a leadership position in a global organization. He reflected on the foundational years spent at the institute, sharing how the skills and values instilled during his time here shaped his professional path, and offered practical insights into building a successful career in the corporate world.

Mr. Siddharth Jain, Founder and CEO, Techsimians India Pvt. Ltd., spoke about his entrepreneurial journey, tracing his path from a student at MET ICS to building his own venture. He emphasized how the fundamentals and core concepts taught during his MCA truly mattered in the real world, forming the backbone of his problem-solving approach as an entrepreneur. His address resonated strongly with students, reinforcing the idea that a strong academic foundation is key to long-term success, whether in a corporate role or as a founder.

The inaugural ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp in the presence of esteemed guests followed by a welcome address by Mr. Pankaj Bhujbal, Hon. Trustee, Mumbai Educational Trust.
