India needs over 3.4 crore dialysis sessions every year — and skilled professionals are the backbone of this life-saving service.
As chronic kidney diseases rise, so does the demand for trained Dialysis Technologists in hospitals and healthcare centres across India.
This is your chance to step into the healthcare sector with the BSc in Dialysis Technology programme at the School of Skill Education (SSE), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
About the Programme:
The three-year graduate program provide students with the opportunity to study the Principles of Dialysis, basic medical science of the kidney, fluid and electrolyte balance, hematologic aspects, infectious diseases, dialysis systems and equipment, vascular access to circulation, blood chemistry, complications of renal failure, psycho- social aspects and an overview of peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation.
In short, students are trained to operate Dialysis Equipment, inspect and maintain it. Other than technical training, subjects like Human Anatomy and Physiology, Renal Diseases, other relevant diseases, Blood Chemistry etc. are also covered in this course.
Career Prospects:
Graduates can work as dialysis technicians in hospitals and private practices.
Some may choose to pursue higher education and research.
The skills and training are also recognised internationally, opening up global employment opportunities.
