Heartfelt Mahavir Jayanti greetings from the Faculty of Dharma Studies at Somaiya Vidyavihar University!

We celebrate the timely and inspiring announcement of the Jain Marathi Vishwakosh—an encyclopedia in Marathi dedicated to Jain religion and heritage, launched by JMDEC with support from Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute.

This initiative honors over 5,000 years of Jain wisdom, making ancient texts in Pali and Prakrit accessible to Marathi readers. We applaud this monumental step in preserving and promoting India’s classical languages and spiritual legacy.

On the occasion of Chakradhar Swami Jayanti, celebrated on the 2nd day of Bhadrapada, we hosted a guest lecture by Dr. Gopal Sanap, Assistant Professor at S.N. Arts, D.J.M. Commerce & B.N.S. Science College, Sangamner, Maharashtra.

He delivered an insightful talk on "सर्वज्ञ श्रीचक्रधरस्वामी यांचे कार्य आणि महानुभाव संप्रदाय," shedding light on the Mahanubhava Sampradaya and the contributions of Sarvajna Chakradhar Swami.

Join us for Poson Poya Day Celebration!

K. J. Somaiya Institute of Dharma Studies, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai, and the Office of International Affairs, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, is honored to celebrate Poson Poya Day at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai.

Poson Poya Day is the second most significant Buddhist celebration in Sri Lanka, marking the day Arahat Mahinda Thero, son of Emperor Ashoka, introduced Buddhism to King Devanampiyatissa in the 3rd century BCE. This historic event established Buddhism in Sri Lanka, a legacy celebrated with various religious activities like Sil campaigns, Bodhi Poojas, Dansalas, devotional songs, Poson pandols, and lanterns.
